I got a tissue ready but that didn't turn me on at all, sorry.

But hey, whatever floats your boat.

RapierFugue....I didn't get "turned on" as you so aptly put it.   I was disgusted, at yet another example of human behavior towards living creatures.   My heart went out to this animal who suffered at the hands of humans.  You don't agree, or have those feelings, it's ok.   I won't hold it against you.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: while I am generally a peaceful and affable guy, there are some people in this world who give me a strong urge to grab them by the hair on the back of their head and smash their face into the pavement… repeatedly.

Oh boo fucking hoo. You're forever posting this saccharin shit. Why? Animals get mistreated, people get mistreated ... what good does it do to take such a prurient and slightly dubious interest? Is your understanding of life really that short on examples of cruelty that you have to go dredging examples up?

Instead of endlessly whining on about such things, why don't you devote some time and energy to changing things for the better? That way, a) you'd have a positive impact upon the world and b) I wouldn't have to read your drivel. Win-win!

I'm still not convinced you're not trolling. I can't believe anyone could be quite as overtly tragic as you're presenting.

Wow. You must dig it or you wouldn't click on her threads. I mean really, nothing better to do than come fling shit on a thread like this?

Again, the more I know about people, the more I love my dog.

I hope Cowboy gets all the care he needs. I posted this on Facebook, and I know one friend has already sent a small contribution to his cause. That alone makes it worthwhile that Lisa posted the story here.

It's what popped up on ATCT, and it's a public forum. For one fleeting second, I thought it might be someone raising an interesting topic of discussion, or being funny, or informative.

And I'm not "flinging shit" - I'm putting forward the eminently reasonable viewpoint that some people, rather than fix a situation, like to endlessly root out examples of it and whinge about it. I call that lame in extremis. If she were a horse, she’d be a one-trick pony.

Oh, and animals are not people. I thought I'd mention that, as it seems to have escaped the notice of some of you. Doubtless folk will now chip in with "we know, animals are better than people!”, in which case I'd suggest they toddle off and form relationships with them instead. From the look of it, some of you already have.

And, with that, I'll leave you "animal-lovers" to your little "aren't people awful!" whinge-fest. Carry on! :)

There's a little thingy called "hide"...try it, please.      I'm really sorry if you are devoid of emotion, but I'm not here to judge.  Trolling?  No, but I did have an ulterior motive.   See, I donated towards the medical expenses of this animal, and I know how many people, such as yourself, read this site...so my intent was to pass the word, as it were.   I don't ask others to give, in fact, no mention was made as to how such a thing might be done, I figure if you have the means, and the will, you can drum up the desire to seek it out.

As to my efforts towards mistreated and abused animals, you don't know me, my background, or anything at all, really...and it's not my desire that you should.   Suffice it to say, I have probably donated more money in my lifetime then you have brought home as an income.  We won't get into the hours I have spent with abused and rescued dogs...that would just bore someone lacking compassion.

Please, I'm begging you, block me.

RF,

I always read your posts on the "Admit" thread & thought you were a really decent bloke but lately you've been a butthole.  I hope it's whatever illness was affecting you awhile back & that this is not your baseline.

Or, alternatively, I happen to disagree with the kind of saccharine drivel this thread's spewing forth, as well as the addle-brained thinking that places concern for animals over human beings. Go sort out famine in Africa, sexual abuse of children, and a thousand other priorities, then worry about toothless ickle doggies. FFS.

But in any case, your validation is not my life's ambition, so you'll excuse me if I wish you well and leave it at that.

PS: I'm just fine, thanks, but cheers for the enquiry.

Oh! well then, by all means RF; since you know so much, come right on in! be as devoutly and bitterly negative as you darn well please, and let's see what kind of a positive impact THAT has..

Simply because the subject at hand was not something you wanted to read about, is no good reason to come off the way that you do. If you don't favor this thread, do move on then, won't you?

poor cowboy... =(  i hope he finds a great family.
yeah, i'm really not a fan of human beings.

what exactly about this thread places animals over human beings? NOTHING anyone has said has done so. human beings mutilated this dog, and the fact that he's a dog makes that no less important. i believe compassion is a universal; anything that's alive on earth deserves it. how do you expect to solve any of the worlds problems if you shrug off evidence of the REAL force behind those problems (i.e. the twisted nature of a good percentage of the "people" on this planet) just because they act out their sickness against animals?

Some people just don't get it. And some people who don't get it, apparently have nothing better to do than spread their special brand of misery to others. My goodness, aren't you proud of yourself then..

p.s. you DO know that animal mutilation is often where those who commit violence towards humans begin, right?
and you do know that it's this attitude that "that doesn't matter" that lets those people skate by until they start committing crimes against humans, right?
it DOES matter.

Of course it matters! I never said it doesn't.

It just doesn't matter as much as the hand-wringers say it does. And I also find it rather distasteful that anyone would zero in on one abused animal, rather than supporting the caring agencies in toto. Give to <animal X> is just the daft, knee-jerk, unthinking reaction of rainbow-bridge believing idiots.

I’ve kept dogs, and cats, and all sorts, over the years, and lavished them all with love and care. But I wouldn't ever, for one second, claim that any of their lives were worth more than that of a human being.

PS: The sociopathic response you're alluding to is only applicable under certain conditions, and most psychologists would tell you that the death of the animal in question is a prime requisite for it being classed as sociopathic behaviours, under current mental health regimes.

It's fucking nuts what people do to animals, right down to mutilating them to achieve a certain "look", doesn't make me want to puke, makes me want to smash a few faces in. A while back had some asshole telling me that the male Dobie looks stupid as he still has his tail, and I can get him "done" in Ireland and then he would look right. I first politely pointed out that they run better with a tail, it's better for the spine and that I really don't want him mutilated, didn't shut asshole up, I finally asked him if he's circumcised or if he looks a bit stupid, that shut him up.

Unfortunately there are a lot of assholes about, would be nice to break their teeth, crop their ears and cut other bits off, just to give them a taste of what they do to animals.

If it were proved that a person transported an animal out of the UK, purely to mutilate it, then they could be prosecuted ... there were a few of those cases after tail docking was banned for all but working dogs in the UK and people went cross-border to do it.

And I fail to see how it looks "stupid" - a dog is supposed to have a tail, and looks unbalanced without it, IMHO at least.
