DavidLee44UK -> weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 12:53:33 PM)

i have a friend who used to live in billings montana who used to send me emails and pictures of area in feb/mar time

and she always used to say roads were impassable thru mountains to get to her sisters in next town

iva also seen people say they attend munches in march

i know weather is vastly different in different parts of usa

so is it harder for people in rural areas

It still depends on where you live. Rural Montana is not the same as the rural areas of say, Texas or California. March weather probably won't prevent you from getting to a munch in CA but it could in Minnesota. Texas, rural or not, the March weather may make it more difficult, but it won't prevent the trip depending on *where* you live in Texas.

Serious question: why are you asking about March weather in the middle of July?

mnottertail -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:06:28 PM)

You got something against planning ahead?

because just seen a profile where someone said they attend munches in march and that brought up what my friend said

simples

That depends, Ron. Planning ahead to summer, you bet; planning ahead to March really not so much. Slush isn't my kink. [8D]

Stick it in a margarita glass, and deal with it.  Girl up, woman.

Ah, okay, thank! I just couldn't think why you would write about March - which incidentally is slushy and miserable here, but is still okay for going to munches - in the middle of July.

I grew up in Billings, MT.  It isn't exactly rural.

And David, just so you know, there are no mountains to go through to get to the next town.  Billings is in the plains.

my bad those big thingies in the back are umm flying geese

and isnt it up near rocky geese

scrolldown day 6 bearback geese lol

DarkSteven -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:24:25 PM)

Oddly enough, Montana got its name from the Spanish word for "mountain".

March in Houston is hotter than anything a Britisher could imagine, while March in Bismark, ND would be unspeakably cold.

LadyPact -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:30:06 PM)

I can't remember which specific months that I have missed one get together or another due to weather.  It absolutely *has* happened to Me.  I was in California (Central Coast) the last time and it literally snowed for the first time in ten years that prevented Me from getting to a private party.  (We're talking about a place with zero snow removal because it happened so rarely.)  In Georgia I did miss a couple of places in other cities that I've been invited due to ridiculously heavy rain.  Didn't have to miss any that were in town because it was only 10-20 miles away from home.  Heaven only knows how it's going to go here.  We've already decided that we won't make trips to the city if the munch date happens to fall during a snow storm.

A lot of areas of the country, people have more than one option a month to get to a munch.  One group will have multiple opportunities to get together or a person could be going to multiple groups through the month.  The bigger the city, the more likely they are going to have a number of get-togethers to choose from.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:37:28 PM)

Ron, brown slush does not make good margarita.

~thinks~ are you telling me to stick it?

Iamsemisweet -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:38:45 PM)

David, those are the Rimrocks.  They are low cliffs, made of sandstone.  They aren't mountains, and they are rarely impassible.   If you want to call them flying geese, I guess you can.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:43:53 PM)

Actually, having only the pic to go by, they do look like mountains so he wasn't the only one who was mistaken. Pity you couldn't educate us without using snark.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: weather in march in usa (7/14/2011 1:45:33 PM)

Rereading my response, you are right Zephyr.  I am allowing my feelings about the OP to interfere with my courtesy, and I do apologize.
