For this introverted bachelor, nothing beats the ol' microwave.

Wait... electronic pressure cooker!? O.o Why have I not been told of such a creature. I, like Hibbie, am still using the kind that can rapidly become a weapon of mass destruction.

Same here. I've never heard of this wonderful invention. I've been dying to fix some dishes the way my Mom always did by using an old fashioned pressure cooker but I'm way too scared to monkey with one. Now that I know about this, I will be getting one. Thanks for the info!

I admit to loving great kitchen gadgets. My microwave has sensor reheating, a great defrost selection, and can be programed to to go through various cooking cycles (2 mins on 100% power, then 10 mins on 50% power). I loooooove my microwave.

I also have an Miallegro stick blender that does everything from chop meat to mix smoothies. This baby can crush ice !!

Another personal favorite is my electric water kettle. It boils water for my tea in minutes.

Gee, I love my mp3 player as well.

I would be hard pressed to choose between those 4 items.

I tried to sign up three times or so to pay for something on eBay. It didn't work, partly because of the picture of text. How you supposed to read that damn thing ? The kicker was that it was only for a $15 purchase. With all their constraints it was also a bit screwed up, like trying to have something shipped elsewhere, and a few other things I heard about it, I figure I can just live without it.

So you couldn't be bothered with it because reading a user agreement was too much effort?

No, where you have to read the characters from a picture that has all distorted letters and numbers. Afte you screw it up a couple of times they think you're a bot and it won't work after that. It took less time to go to the post office and send the seller a money order.

And why bother reading a user agreement anyway ? They all say the same thing, you own nothing, we own everything, you have no rights, we have all the rights. You are bound by the agreement and we retain the right to change it at any time. That about sums it up doesn't it ?

Funny you mentioned air conditioning. We just had a power outage for about an hour and I was quite reminded about air conditioning. Of course like everything else I have that I consider good it's over twenty years old.

Still a dandy gadget.

My pizza oven thingy. I got it from an auction of a convenience store that closed.

It makes grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, chicken nuggets, pizza rolls, etc......., it is built well, which is why I like it, as it was built for commercial use.

Besides that I've not been enamored by gadgets much, I have an mp3 player though I don't use it, I bought a tablet but rarely use it.

For those that like microwaves, well a good pizza oven can cook a lot of things better, in the same time, they just have to be small. Oh, yeah, you can do burritos in it to. That about covers the basic food groups I think.

I haven't owned a counter top oven thing since.........like 30ish years ago. When I was broke, living in a freezing cold farm house about 8 miles from here, renting. We were down to living in two rooms, huddling around a wood burning stove because we couldn't afford the LP to use the furnace. The stove went out and we couldn't afford a new one so everything we cooked had to be cooked in an old electric skillet or that toaster oven, or on the wood stove.

That was a harsh time of life.

My cappuccino maker, it was reviewed a few years back by Which magazine which said it was almost as good as a mid-priced Gaggia but under half the price and just as well built.

Sounds like a cool item for pizza but how can it do nuggets any better than a normal oven - maybe they would be better in a fryer?

Okay.......after just going outside at 10:13pm and seeing that it is 90 degrees F. with 70% humidity making the heat index 104, reading that tomorrow is supposed to be hotter than today.......

Yeah, I am going with air conditioning!
