Meh. I'm guy who gets off on dominating women Gorean style, yet I get all mushy and subby inside whenever I look at Joan Jett (why? I've no idea)... so what do I know? even in general media -- in movies, female characters tend to marry down, and male characters tend to marry up. cute girl from the snooty side of town meets streetsmart tough guy from the wrong side of the tracks, yadda yadda yadda.

The theme you will find in most chick flicks trends towards the opposite... rich (teen flicks, popular guy) man finds poor woman with little social standing and saves her. Think Pretty Woman, Sixteen Candles, Pride and Prejudice.... just to name a few. It is the entire Knight in Shining Armor/White Horse/Damsel in Distress kink

I agree with what Lilly said, about wanting to control a powerful woman, and I think also that it's because girls in comics already have super revealing/sexy outfits designed to make them seem sexually appealing. If it was just about wanting to control a powerful woman, you'd be fantasizing about Hillary Clinton...not the hot blonde in the spandex halter top and miniskirt.

I don't know, most older (read 40+) male comic book readers have rather an avuncular soft spot for Supergirl. Back then, she was always trying so very hard to live up to the standards of her more famous cousin, that one tended to view her more as a favourite niece say, than as a sex object.

Personally, I think Wonder Woman (created by the definitely not vanilla William Marston) had more BDSM-ish overtones. In the original incarnation, her golden lasso forced anyone snared in it to do her bidding, though this was subsequently weakened into simply forcing people to speak the truth. And then there used to be the weakness -- if one bound her bracelets together, she became powerless and ultimately a slave to whoever did the binding. And, if I'm not mistaken, almost all of the issues of the original Marston run (1941-1948) had at least a few panels rife with images of ropes and tying.

As long as we are talking about comic book characters, I've heard some people mention that their first little frisson of non-vanilla delight came from watching Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns. I think for some of us a tad older, it might have been seeing Diana Rigg as Mrs Emma Peel.

I think Michelle Pfeiffer in a skin tight vinyl catsuit did lots for straight men of any orientation [;)]

I certainly love the evolution of Catwoman in the comics, never had much of a thing for the whole Super-family (long johns and those powers, bahhh) I liked the whole dark mode of Batman a lot more, there's a real guy without super powers, he's revenge driven, possibly schizophrenic, his methods are sometimes quite illegal (the amount of speed limits he violates, and climbing on public buildings without permission and all that), he's simply not a goody two shoes like Superman.

Mind you one thing that always confused me was how those super heroines and villainesses managed to climb and leap off tall buildings wearing sky high stiletto heels, and where on earth did Catwoman store the stolen goods, most of the time she's wearing skin tight clothes where any unseeming bulge would show up straight away....

As far as the OP's question, I don't think it's that "out there" for a fantasy....maybe a girlfriend would be willing to dress the part and let you go at it. But if it's a true fetish, where it's the only way you can get off then it might become a problem.

If it is a true fetish and he picks girls that will feed it, I hope he is honest with them about his fetish. It is a true fetish... I wouldn't say its the only way I can get off but I do think about it during regular sessions in bed and it keeps me going. I have been with a girl in the past that embraced it and the sex was the best we both ever had. Although we had our differences in goals in life... so we never really hooked up, only remained as fuck friends for a year and a half.
