Then explain to me what the fuck it all was for. Fifty-eight thousand two hundred and two American lives lost. Three hundred and four thousand seven hundred and four wounded. Two thousand three hundred and thirty eight missing in action. What the fuck did we accomplish with all that carnage? If you want to talk about someone spitting on the memory of those lives you need only to look to our renewed diplomatic relations with Vietnam and the U.S. corporations that are profiting there.

Perhaps FDD might benefit from watching the "The Fog Of War", where Vietnam War architect Robert McNamara recants and admits the war was indefensible and wrong. And all of those who deaths, on whatever side, were avoidable if the US had adopted Ms Fonda's suggestion at the time. Perhaps FDD might benefit from talking to some of the Vietnamese survivors of the indiscriminate American carpet bombing of North Vietnam. Or and Nixon's Kissinger's bombing of non-combatants Laos and Cambodia. Among the consequences: millions of innocent civilian deaths, and setting off a chain of events that lead to the murderous Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. It seems to me (as an outsider) that Ms Fonda's contribution to America's moral standing is far greater than any of those who seek to re-write history by clinging to the abandoned rationalisations for that disastrous war. The activism of Fonda and all those other heroic Americans who stood up to their Govt (often at great personal cost) and forced a halt to US involvement in Vietnam saved millions of lives.

The US involvement nin Vietnam came as a accumulation of repeated European attampts to colonize and puppetize the place. After the British installed French had their go at it after WW2, the biggest dog in the pack had to have their try also. At least the US had the sense to militarily stay out of Post-War Indonesia after the British reinstalled the Dutch criminals., though the US certainly monkeyed around with spooks and hooligans for a while there, the US would not have CIA brats like Obama otherwise..

Where as the war was wrong and McNamara was wrong Hanoi Jane was wrong to collaborate with the enemy and demoralize our troops in a time of war. If this had taken place in an earlier time she would have been executed.

She didn`t. Quite the opposite,she help shorten the war and therefore saved lives. She pissed a few republicans off is all,no biggie. The obsession with that war by cons is puzzling.I`ve met a few who think we never should have left VN.It was FUBAR before we got there,we never should have gotten involved to begin with. As I recall,we were duped/tricked/lied into getting into that war too.Some things, don`t change. How many young men and woman did we needlessly lose in that disaster?

Since Nixon traded of Vietnam for trade with China, what US Republicans complain of I cannot say. Google "decent interval Kissinger." If any US GOP members wish to discuss Vietnam, they can "ride the bear" for trading their South Vietnamese allies and proxies off to the communists for that wonderful economic deal US has with China today. What a bargain that betrayal turned out to be.

People like FatDD have no respect for America or what it means to be an American. They are not the protectors of free speech because that is UnAmerican in their eyes. The right hates Hollyweird. They can't stand that anyone other than their right wing appointed leaders gets to have a voice. They hate and demonize people like Tim Robbins who took the unpopular stand of speaking out against the Iraq war. These people like Jane Fonda and Tim Robbins are actually heroes. They took an unpopular stand and time proved them out to be on the "right side" of things. This fact is so often lost on the FatDD's of the world. The dumb and stupid FatDD's of the world, why are there so many of them out here?

Well let's define just what is 'treasonous.' Was it treason to tell the NV that we would not attack their AA guns...'until they are operational ?' Was it treasonous to make it also well-known policy...not to go beyond something called the 'Demilitarized Zone ? Was it treasonous to make it a well-known policy of not to go into Laos or Cambodia after the NVA or VC ? Was it treasonous that there being no direct evidence that he did...that as likely the CIA stood by and as likely made sire with SV generals coup...assassinated the pres. of SVN because he wanted a negotiated peace ? (1963, long for the Gulf of Tonkin fiasco) Was it treasonous to take out Kennedy because he wanted out of VN, was ridding us of the federal reserve and closing down the CIA in the US...directly in violation of it charter ? Seems there was a whole lotta treason going on. So, I have serious problems with Jane Fondle and her behavior but I have serious problems with most all of our govt....before and since.
