Some songs that I hear always remind me of summer in my yout. They plyed them a lot during the summer for some reason during the 50's and 60's.

Yeah, Belinda Carlisle's Summer Rain, especially (but other Gogo's songs too).
To me its bittersweet, haunting, its one song that gets to me as a time that seems so long ago. It reminds me of my first boyfriend (we were both 17), our first summer together working as laborers in Alberta and the dry heat, no rain forever and the first thunderstorm in ages. My boyfriend ran out and danced in the rain, he was so happy for the break from the heat and huge wet drops that renewed us.

LOL, I went to a festival where the Cure were headlining and touring for Disintegration, all the Goths were miserable during the day in the sun with the makeup running down in streaks, but the Cure playing when it got dark with the full moon and a lake as a backdrop of the stage, that was great. Next day I went out and tried to buy all the Cure CDs I could afford from my pocket money.

Goths can be a bit stubborn like that. I suspect it's part of the reason they were still goths in 1990...

I know it's not that far in the past, but I do always think of summer when I hear Give It Up, by KC and The Sunshine Band. This is because it was always played during the summer it was in the charts during the '80s (can't remember which year) especially when I went to the visiting fairground at my local park. It seemed to always be on while I was on the waltzers, so even though I wasn't mad on the song, I always think back to those innocent days of summer whenever I hear it now. :)
