"It's like arguing on P & R"

I have a funny "feeling" that's going to change.

Because (and again my opinion) pharmacists and pill-makers invent diseases just to throw our money out of our pockets.
We are talked into it.

On the money, there.

Did  'Attention Deficit Disorder' just all of a sudden show up on our doorstep 15 years ago? Or rather did the drug to 'treat' it show up at our doorstep, and then soon after, so many teachers telling the kid's parents that they need to feed their kids slow-release speed (called Ritalin, et. al.) just because the child had an active and curious mind that the conventional classroom is designed to stifle and stultify at every opportunity?

I was listening to the radio the other day & there is now a new syndrome called, I believe, "shift work syndrome." And there is a medication that helps people sleep who, as near as I can figure out, are having trouble sleeping due to the shift that they work. WTF??? So this is a clear case of making up a syndrome to sell a medication, which btw has the side effect of becoming addicted.

As far as ADD, I saw a couple of clear cases of children with those kinds of problems back in the 70's. I'm not sure if it was ADD or Bi-polar or just what they had. But one of them grabbed a knife & threatened her mother with it. The children I've met today who've been diagnosed as ADHD, with only one exception & he is also bi-polar, tend to be normal little boys. Apparently there is no place in our world for normal little boys so they need to be medicated.

Now back to the topic. I'm not sure that music by itself can heal. I know that the body responds to certain vibrations, which I proved to myself when I was in labor for 2 1/2 days with my second child. I chanted & the vibrations that I set up in my body made it so that I didn't perceive the contraction pains.

I have Asperger's, which is a form of autism. Some people have mentioned the effect of music on autistic children, that it soothes but doesn't heal. My experience as an Aspergian is that music is the way that I get in touch with & express my feelings. It can also assist in my moods. But Asperger's isn't a disease, so it doesn't need a cure.

The mind-body connection is fascinating to me. I went to an event that ended with an 8' firewalk. I knew ahead of time that was something that was going to be done & had made up my mind that I wasn't going to do it. But we were put into what the leader of the group called "state", which was a sort of hypnotic trance & I believed that I could walk on hot coals & not get burned. I not only did that walk but a year later walked 40 feet without getting burned. One woman who was in front of me in the line for the 40 foot walk was laughing & joking & making fun of the whole thing & when I came off the coals, I saw her off to the side, crying & her burned feet being attended to. So I believe it had to do with the mental state more than anything physically. There are many theories as to how firewalking works, but that's my theory & belief. And what I learned from those two walks was that if I can put my mind to it wholeheartedly, I can accomplish anything. Another time, I was under hypnosis for teeth cleaning & apparently she nicked my gum & it started bleeding. She told me to stop bleeding & a few moments later thanked me for stopping it. Pretty cool shit, that!!

The best words spoken in the entire thread.

I see this as the real issue here; all these variations in personality or (supposedly) psychological or physical sensitivities that have existed for thousands of years gradually get glommed by the pharmaceutical industry as some 'new' malady that needs 'treatment.'

People can be different in any variety of ways. Treating these differences as anomalies only furthers non-acceptance. So we spout 'diversity' while foisting drugs upon people with independent and active minds.

Who'd have guessed?

For those interested:

The Living Matrix profiles some fascinating research on information medicine and related topics, including how frequency/vibration interacts with the body's energy field. Particularly interesting is one experiment (not shown in the trailer) where subjects were shown "good" and "bad" images, noting how heart and brain waves reacted to each. Then the computer showed random images, and they found that (1) the heart responds first, (2) then the brain responds (not vice versa), but (3) that BOTH "responded" BEFORE the image was shown, even though the images were generated randomly. Bunch of other stuff--a lot crammed into this film. It's a jumping off place for exploration, not a final destination.

WARNING: For those sensitive to the matter, the film DOES, without question, include some "New Age horseshit" along with its reporting of data. Such is the way of these things, so take the good with the bad. However, you'll perhaps be encouraged to note that NO HOMEOPATHY WAS USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM!

[:D]

Enjoy. It's an interesting ride.

Life is good. Live it well.

"NO HOMEOPATHY WAS USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM!"

But I can't watch because they might kill some baby seals.

With all this detail thrown in, the obscured premise is really whether or not the mind can affect the body. It's a foregone conclusion that sounds as well as sights can affect the mind. So affect the body or not ? And simple [un]common sense will tellya that such things are difficult at best to quantify.

So those who deny, deny. For then they need the chemical reaction, and a million calculus formulae to figure out that it might not be a good idea to drink battery acid. Their world has already been discovered completely.

Damn, I just realized how terrible of a thing that is to say - their world has already been discovered completely. Might as well die then.
