Figging is the practice of inserting raw ginger (peeled) into the anus. It's supposed to be really hot...though I didn't find it to be. Perhaps some 'fingers' (as the ginger parts are called) are hotter than others?

The younger the hand, the milder the flavor. Aged ginger can pack quite a punch. Master wrote an article called Figging: The Art of Ginger Root Play which explains it in fair detail.

Dear two4bd, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I have done figging. Which is taking a 'hand' of ginger and or use of a 'finger' of ginger root and inserting into the anus. When tightening the buttocks it hurts even more, thus why it was used in caning. The older the hand/finger is the more painful/uncomfortable.

There have been many writings on the subject, for many years.

Yes I've done it with My submissives, and I greatly enjoy the effects. I don't do it for punishment, I do it for fun, although it does help train a submissive who insists on clenching during a spanking.

Figging derives from a Victorian practice (see below). In modern figging, a piece of raw ginger is placed in the bottom's anus before a spanking/caning. The ginger contains natural irritants that burn when coming into contact with membranes. Yes, as someone said, it also stimulates the clit, and I'd imagine the glans of the penis if moist.

Figging is a sort of "dilemma" play, where the sub has to make a choice, but there is no "good" outcome of her choices: If she clenches her butt to minimize the pain of the spanking, the "fig" causes her to burn and itch internally. If she relaxes, she feels the spanking all the more. Isn't that fun?

Yes, you can age the "fig", as many have posted, to make it stronger. For a greater sting, peel it, put it in a plastic bag and leave it for a few days (if it gets old and dried out, it just isn't effective). However, I've learned that in fact the intensity really varies more from person to person than plug to plug. If they are anally erotic and you use some care, I'm thinking that you should buy some stock in the Ginseng packers, instead of thinking about using it as punishment., I'd recommend that the threat of not ever using it again would be a better punishment.

The Stinging Nettles should be coming up now--this is spring after all, growing in woods and on the side of the road. Farm's sometimes have them on their 'public space' areas between the highway and their crops as to keep people from taking crop produce off their land on it's fringes.

I thought that the European nettle was much preferred to the nasty American versions, which I've been told are like poison oak. Any kinky botanists out there to help???

Okay... One thing that was forgotten is the aphrodesiac properties of ginger figging... Yes, it burns... this is due to the chemical inflammation of the tissues, which increases blood flow, which heightens sensitivity... I don't know about you folks, but this works on my ex-girl to turn her into a rabid do-me-slut simply begging for use and abuse, perhaps 20 minutes post-insertion..

Do you have a source for that? I'm almost positive it's false. The word "figging" is a variant of "feaguing," which has nothing to do with figs. (Heh, we just went over this last week in the "Word Fight" thread.)

It's also a lot older than the Victorian era.

Almost forgot, something that Himself didn't include in the article, but which is in the revision he's writing is that if you score (make small superficial slices) the ginger, you can release more juice and make it that much more potent. Do this with turbo'd ginger and it's even better.

I would not suggest peeling the ginger root if you want to turbo charge it, though. As both a chef and someone who has been using ginger for several years, as soon as you peel it, it begins to dry out and will lose it's potency, even if you bag it quickly. The article I linked explains it much better, but quickly, you want to put the hand into the bag while it still has it's protective bark because that's what you'll use to gauge it's readiness. Moisture builds on the inside of the bag and once mold begins to form on the hand, that's when the ginger has reached it's max potency. Simple peel it as normal. The mold doesn't matter because the bark is protecting the ginger itself and you've peeling that away and don't forget to score and then watch.. or, in some cases, feel the burn.

Himself was turbo charging a piece of ginger once and we forgot it was in the fridge. We found it about three weeks later and Himself did the slice and dice on it.. that ginger was so potent that I could taste it in my mouth when he inserted it in my hind quarters. I'm not sure to this day if it was more a case of WOW .. or holy shit OW! ::laughs:: I don't beg as a rule, but in this case, I made an exception.

My curious nature leads me to want to try figging. I wonder if anyone has had any severe negative reactions though (like an allergy).

Is there someway I can do a test? You know like when you buy a box of hair color they recommend you do a strand test.

Any insight on how I should proceed with testing the waters so to speak?
