Yes, that's possible that you could do that, and if I were on my toes and really after the information I would carry on the discussion and continue to go after the answer. If you're contending that you would simply refuse to divulge that information in a context that had nothing to do with the account you used that question for, you're lying, and you know it.

As to all your passwords, well the hacker is only after one at a time.

Edited because my typing sucks.[:@]

If you were persistent enough I might wonder why you're so damned interested in my mother's maiden name though. Besides I'm wondering what the chances are that I'll be sitting around with someone from here discussing my mother's family.

Arpig -> RE: You can have the strongest password in the world.... (7/28/2011 2:35:01 PM)

I already gave a perfectly plausible scenario why the topic would appear innocent, and I wouldn't have to be all that persistent. I would just tell you that my uncle was an amateur genealogist and I had an extensive database of my extended family, including literally hundreds of different surnames. I once did have just such a document for my own family, going back to Denmark (honestly) in the 800s, but misplaced it somewhere over the years, so it's not that unreasonable a claim.

Think about it honestly and you'll have to admit that the odds are that you'd happily reveal the name, thinking it would be sort of cool if we were in fact related in some way. Especially if it was somebody you'd known for a while on whatever forum, social network, or other medium the discussion was taking place in.

Well there are times I'm distracted by a young lesbian with a sweet ass, and then I'm sorry, but I forget all about everything else.

wouldnt it just be a whole lot easier to get friendly with people and then send them an innocent looking pic of whatever they are into (cute kitty, hot car, gawky kids, etc) that has a keylogger attached to it?

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: You can have the strongest password in the world.... (7/28/2011 3:33:47 PM)

Arpig -> RE: You can have the strongest password in the world.... (7/28/2011 3:41:12 PM)

Yes, that's true, but I assume that most people scan things before they download them (though given the things I've had to clean out of peoples' computers, i really shouldn't make that assumption at all).

And the contention was that nobody would be able to find out the answer to her question, and so I dreamt up a scenario to do just that without resorting to anything more than trickery. The idea was to show that even a kid like the one in the story could do it easily without any particular technological skill or know how.

people are so used to seeing a warning pop-up that imo they ignore those routinely, especially when they are downloading from a site or person they have come to trust.

Yes, obviously this kid did it just from info posted by the victims themselves... it musta taken him a bit of time to try each possible answer tho, which is something I wouldnt do, i would get bored too easily. lol

Dont worry Zephyr... I dont even know how to attach a keylogger to an innocent pic... [sm=angel.gif]

flcouple2009 -> RE: You can have the strongest password in the world.... (7/28/2011 5:46:45 PM)

Oh dearie, I am well versed with the dark side.

The Mrs frowns on me using it with others unless she's invited as well.
