Marisol -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/29/2011 4:02:57 PM)

Thank you everyone for the continuous advice. I've been able to come up with a whole toy bag already from the things I already have in my house. I'm very excited about this. =]

Anyhoo, I'm going to keep all of this in mind and hopefully my toys, clothes, accessories, and such will continue to grow(while not spending a lot of money) while I grow as a person.

10 grand? well done you

DesFIP -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/29/2011 4:09:18 PM)

Columbus, Ohio is home of the largest horse show in the world. If you can't find a tack shop nearby, I'll eat my (cowboy) hat.

If you have privacy to make your own, then I recommend looking online for how to. I suggest:

You can buy leather clothing at a thrift shop for a few dollars and cut them up into strips for floggers, for instance. A package of wooden spoons will sting mercilessly and cost only a couple of dollars at the grocery store.

Lovely link! I am going to bookmark this and keep it around for future reference, thank you.

And, yes, that is it. So, I;m sure I'll be able to find a store!

I happen to like toys.  A lot!  The violet wand alone was a grand five years ago and we've bought a ton of attachments for that since then.  I happen to like medical play quite a bit.  Needles, scalpels, staples, and all of the things that I like to accessorize with those (beads, ribbon, etc) rack up quite a bit.  The wax supplies (various candles, pot, and supplies) are an easy few hundred.  I've got way more pairs of mated floggers of different materials, weights, and types of leather and suede than anyone would ever need.  I also have an affinity for pairs of dragon tails.  (I'm really big on florentine.)  We just spent another $500 on long whips at Northern Exposure to go along with the three that we already had.  Paddles, slappers, vampire gloves, canes, crops, clamps........

That's not to mention the furniture or the leather that I wear personally.  Four over the bust corsets, three under the bust, plus a number of leather skirts, vests, jackets, and of course, boots.

It's worth mentioning here that I didn't just whip out ten grand to pay for all of it at once.  Some of the items in My bag are gifts, even some made by folks from right here on the boards.  (You know who you are and I love you.)

Dollar store sleep masks, leashes, collars, dog bowls and costumes, stationery store binder clamps, Army/Navy [how I miss that store!] snake bite kits, lanyards, rope, and grommets for make-your-own restraints and leatherwear, Salvation Army thrift store silk ties [ugly colours, but as above, who cares what they're bound to the bedposts by if they're wearing a dollar store sleep mask?], and my prized bargain, a long narrow 80's mirror in tubular steel: now imagine a good man on his hands and knees over it: I can watch his face and other reactions as I do things to him with my more expensive toys!

Tack shops are great...on a recent trip to my local horse and rider shop I bought a couple rubber riding crops for $5.95 each, a long "buggy whip" for $10.00 and a horse hair fly swatter for $20.00.

Thrift stores are also another cool place to shop for pervertables.

hi marisol, nice looking tatas you got there.

i was going to give you one of my trademark skin-you-alive replies when i realised that you really were just an honestly clueless beginner, not some fucking stupid wanker. i read through your replies and i fucking like you. a lot. you have enthusiasm and a quick grasp of what people say to you. fucking a!

you have loads of fucking good advice about the toys, so i'm just going to comment on the outfits.

my normal "mistress outfit" is a pair of well worn-in jeans and a fucking t-shirt. yeah i'm never going to be the kinkmate of the month in dominas of the world, but fucked if my girl minds. you don't have to dress up. during the summer i often play in my bathing suit, in the winter i've done it in my baggy old sweater. shockingly enough most of the time we're bare assed naked when we play.

if you want to dress up, note that i didn't say "if he wants you to*",  then by all means do so. one good place to look is the grotty little antique clothing stores/2nd hand shops. you'd be amazed at what you can find in those fucking places.

the last thing i'm going to say is just a bit of general advice: don't take this shit too seriously, it's basically glorified fucking, and fucking is supposed to be fun.

best of luck to you, hope to see you around the boards regularly.

*if he wants you to dress up for him, let him foot the fucking bill.

I like the idea of snake bite kits, and lanyards. We have a lot of great thrift stores around here so I will also check those out and see what I can find.

(Sorry about the tatas. I didn't really want to post a face picture on my profile(I had some fuckwit recently take my pictures and things I had sent them and post them in forums local to Ohio and send them to facebook friends and family of mine because he got pissed at me. Anyhoo, long story short-ish, I just decided that worked easier. I probably should have used a sexy picture of Elisha Cuthbert, I do so love her, and I am envious of your avatar. Hopefully my new avatar is somewhat more appropriate.)

I for one and am very thankful you didn't give me one of those, I'd have become very nervous and probably felt unsure whether to continue on in the forums. I really do like the forum and the atmosphere here and would like to become an active member. Hopefully I don't become a stupid fucking wanker anytime soon. If I do, please free to mention it(I'm sure you will haha) and I will try to correct said "stupid fucking wanker"ish behavior, pronto.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, first and foremost.

Yes, I am a clueless beginner. I loathe to be a newb, but here I am, hopefully I won't be the annoying type of noob for long.

I love wearing jeans and fucking t-shirt, so maybe I'll just do this, haha! Feeling comfortable should be important afterall, right?

Thank you for your honesty and your own experience.

Knowing that someone here just wears everyday clothes while going at it makes me feel more assured that I could do this. (I need to work on my confidence, I know.)

Glorified fucking? Well, I certainly know how to fuck, so I think I'll get the hang off all this quickly. ;]

I like your personality. It's no nonsense, in your face, and kick-ass. I love it! I hope one day I will be able to exude this confidence.

Thank ya muchly.

* and that is a great idea. xD

HannahLynHeather -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/29/2011 8:11:06 PM)

hey marisol, you got mail.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/29/2011 8:18:15 PM)

Super cheap toys and insertables here The glass toys are especially nice and the same ones you see on many other sex sites for 5 times as much. I mean, really, Aneros-equivalent prostate massage toy here for $4.98 US. Free shipping and no tax, too. One arrived slightly chipped. The company just asked me to email a picture and they sent me another one right away to replace it. No charge of course.

As for corsets, sky's the limit but believe it or not there are well-fitting, well-made deals on ebay. I have two leather corsets, one red and one black, that were $60 each, new, buy it now. I've seen these go at auction for as little as $45. Most vendors have them in every size up to 6X so there should be something to fit everyone. I have a few fabric corsets also that were less than $20.

That said, I generally scene in whatever I'm comfortable wearing. That's usually yoga pants, a t- or sweatshirt and Croc-equivalents. No complaints yet from the boys.

Oh lawd. I love this site you have linked. A thousand thanks and much gratitude is extended to you. Very reasonably priced. When I get my paycheck I need to splurge a little, me thinks. I will definitely be looking in to this site.

Plus-size is always wanted/needed, I will definitely do some searching around. I know I very much want a sexy corset.

And it's nice to hear from someone else here that comfortable clothes such as those do the trick. Though, of course I'd still love to dress up sometimes!

MistressDarkArt -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/29/2011 8:40:00 PM)

This corset is one I bought on ebay. It's listed now for $55 here Sizes to 3X. Surprisingly quality leather and heavily made. I think there's a picture or two on my profile wearing it if you want to see what it looks like on a regular person's body.

Wow. It looks wonderful on you. Truly gorgeous. I now want it. I'm not sure I will look as good in it, but it's definitely something I am putting on my wishlist till I save up. Thank you so much.

Wow, lots of good ideas on this thread. Some I've even done myself.

Marisol, I peeked at your profile and you have a really neat cat there. A yellow tabby it looks like.

Also, check out Amazon. Their Health & Personal Care section has some...interesting (and cheap!) products in it. :D

MaamJay -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/30/2011 3:34:51 AM)

I am plus size too, and I did a WHOLE lot of bdsm before I invested in a corset! By then I knew people in My local scene who made them at reasonable prices and I got them one at a time as I could afford them. The first was especially cheap as it had been made for someone else who changed their mind about buying it ... and it was purple too! They are nice to wear out to parties etc and I do feel sexy in them BUT I find I can only do some forms of play in them without finding it too restricting. Like flogging and spanking good ... but attaching ankle cuffs and spreader bar to a sub NO GOOD as if I managed to get down that low wearing one ... I'd never get back up! So for play at home, I'd rather just wear some good lingerie (I have some lovely floaty long nightgowns with lacy bra-like tops), or maybe a low-ish cut top (the assets always turn the guys on!), and a split-sided skirt made of nice slippery smooth fabric.

As everyone else has said, LOADS of great cheap pervertables available from other stores, crops etc I second the idea of the equestrian store. They also sell that self-sticky bandage (for horses) in great colours which makes quite good bondage tape and a lot cheaper than the official stuff. Pet stores awesome for cheaper collars, leashes etc ... short check chains (sometimes called choker chains) work quite well clipped to collars used as ankle cuffs to make shackles. Kitten collars with bells attached to wrists or ankles can be fun, especially if you give the sub a task or a position and tell them you don't want to hear the bells ring (or they will get a whack every time they do etc!). Be creative! One of the most fun scenes ever was when I tied a sub's hands behind their back ... then told them to put away the shopping!

I agree with others here, refreshing to see a new Domme who is asking questions AND listening to the answers, willing to learn. Ask away Marisol!

Ma'am Jay aka violet[A]

LadyConstanze -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/30/2011 3:45:49 AM)

Unless your measurements are standard, I'd got for underbust corsets, I got a few overbust ones, the only ones that really fit are made to measure, with an underbust one, you don't have that problem.

DesFIP -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/30/2011 6:38:15 AM)

Black leather show crops cost more. But you can pick up a neon green or bright red one for less. And they're easier to see when you're packing up.

Since you're 18, you may still be either living at home or have a roommate. I'd invest first in a numbered padlock and a cheap suitcase to keep all your stuff in. Numbered because keys are like socks in the dryer, they walk on their own!

StrikingBeauty -> RE: worthy of the lifestyle? (7/30/2011 6:43:44 AM)

As LadyPact says, a collection of good quality equipment is something that you build over many years. While pervertables are nice and can fill needed niches, it IS a good idea to save up some dollars and on occasion buy a good piece, like a well made flogger or an exotic wood paddle or the like.

After 10 years, those are the pieces I still use, and I've replaced all the 'cheap but fun' early stuff I've had with better quality. But it's a process...you buy good piece, learn how to use it properly, become proficient, think about buying another piece.

I have to admit....I'm not big on investing in expensive kink wardrobe. Nice lingerie, the little black dress with a pair of heels, etc, work just fine. And again - that's a matter of keeping your eyes open, catching a good sale, etc.

There are guys out there who expect that if you call yourself a Domme, that means you have all the equipment and wardrobe of a successful Prodomme of many years, but are going to make that available for them to play with at no cost or effort on their part. Avoid men like that. They don't want a woman; they want a fetish delivery service.

The "nice boy" (for lack of a better term) male sub that you DO want to spend time with is realistic, willing to grow and learn with you, and will expect that he's going to contribute to "the collection" just as much as you are.
