I'm not surprised at all. The fuckwad doctor who examined me was some hotshot surgeon who couldn't wait to operate. He diagnosed me with appendicitis even though no ultrasound was done until I had been admitted. The pain was eventually diagnosed as endometriosis - 4 years later.

On the whole residents tend to be more careful, which is why I don't mind being examined by them. They are so deathly afraid of fucking up they will order just about everything lol.

*LOL* Surgeons and hair stylists....just a little too eager to do some cutting. :D

Wow...sorry about the endometriosis. That is pretty major and very much unforgivable for that doctor to have misdiagnosed to such a degree.

And some residents are totally arrogant too. Mostly males, but not exclusively. ;)

There's a joke in the hospital I work in that only arrogant assholes are accepted into the surgical residency program lol. Most of the residents I know are far from arrogant and in fact we are more than happy to see them again when they come back after finishing their residency.

Yeah Dr. Fucking Asshole had the nerve to march into my room and tell me off for insisting on cancelling the surgery when my pain went away. I didn't give a fuck, there was no way I was having surgery when I was fine - the residents had me jump up and down in the hallway.

Endometriosis - meh could have been worse. Hysterectomy cured it eventually.

I'm reminded of when I was 14 and in the hospital following surgery. I heard all of this commotion out in the hall. Lots of screaming and carrying on. It took a while for someone to answer my call. I found out that a group of graduating nursing students had grabbed this one particular resident, (I don't recall if he was a surgical resident or not), who was quite the one to deal with, taken him to one of the patient bathing rooms, removed his shirt, shaved all the hair off his chest and wrote "graduating nurses of ****" in indelible marker on his chest. (**** = the year they graduated) :D

Did you complain against that doctor? Unbelievable. Sounds like he needs an ego check.

Some women are just not in touch with their bodies. This is normally more common in men which is why illnesses in men are often detected at a later stage.

My periods are very irregular, but once I learned it was possible to recognize when I ovulate, I started paying attention, and am now much more in touch with my cycle. I'm also not the type of person who thinks have-a-headache-pop-a-pill, but "What is causing this headache and what is the best way to get rid of it?"

This surprise giving birth happened to the wife of a former coworker, and since he appeared to have the self-awareness of a turnip, I wasn't surprised...
