Asking this question of forum readers is going to give you a biased result. It's probably most accurate to call CM a kinky dating site and that's it. If they calculated the total number of members versus the total who use the forums (or have even ever read the forums) I would expect the percentages to be fractionally small. The forum here is an afterthought to anyone but the very small portion of the crowd that uses it.

What is collarme? A kinky dating site.

CM is a place I found when googling a guy I dated who had been murdered. I smelled it's finger and liked it. I learned a lot and expressed my pov many times. I "met" some cool peeps here who I quite like and lots and lots of creepy ones, but that is pretty much anywhere I go. I find it funny that this is a sort of underworld place to be and there are so many narrow minded twats here. I have used the chatrooms time to time and they can be a hoot or not. I usually hide profiles with dicks hanging out, not my scene. The ad windows have lead my curiosity to porn time to time. It is generally a nice place to visit on my online rounds.

I find the forums entertaining, enlightening, and some times a way to learn how to view a topic in a new light. As for the other side *play some creepy music here...the dark side* Well I don't "date" so I don't think of it as a dating site. I do get asked a lot of questions. A LOT of questions. Mostly from new folkss Younger people. Ones that are new at this. So I normally end up going all domme mommy on them. For the most part I think of cm as an on going advice column for the criminally nitwited or the kinkaly challenged.

CM in the uk tends to be used to find bodies quickly, rather than people to date romantically. If I wanted something casual and I wanted it quickly this is where I'd look.

I'd disagree with you VC...to an extent

I used this place to find a relationship, as did others I know in r/l. I will absolutely agree that there are a lot of guys (and I expect gals) who use this place for a quick casual hook-up. Which is why my insistence on lots of talk and vanilla meets before anything happens is there, to weed out the people who aren't looking for something longer term.

It's ok to say 'get out in your local kink scene', but in my area the number of single male Doms is actually pretty low, and the number who tick enough of my 'must have' boxes to make them a potential match is even lower again. I have met a dozen or so guys from cm in the last couple of years, and although most weren't a match for me, they appeared to be Doms looking for a relationship who had no interest at all in getting involved in munches/clubs and so on.

I had originally registered on a UK kink site (informedconsent) and found it to be an absolute nightmare if you were looking for a relationship lasting longer than one night (or even one chat...ick!). A bit like ALT or AFF, but without the high moral standards

So I've been dating using CM for several years, and made several very good friends as a result, and also found Master.

I do know people who've used it to find serious relationships. But they are vastly outnumbered by the people I know (in person, I'm not talking about HNGs) who've used it to get laid quickly and efficiently and with a minimum of fuss.

I accept that that's probably skewed by knowing them at scene events, which wipes out the men looking for serious relationships who aren't on the scene. But still, vastly outnumbered.

Sometimes it takes people a while to admit it, though. They'll slag CM off as terrible for a good twenty minutes before they admit how many more people they've met off it than anywhere else...

Can't get any more objective than that.

For me personally, collarme started out as a place to meet people of various experience levels. I have grown trememdously, and met a few people that are still good friends today.

Nowadays, however, I'm more on the collarchat side of things, and aside from idly browsing profiles once in a while (and checking to see if GreedyTop put up any new pics), don't use collarme that much.

Even on collarchat, I stick in Off Topic. Politics and Religion got old after a while, nothing but fierce collectivists squaring off against fierce collectivists.

Yeah that makes me laugh too, I admit.

As for what is CM? I'll go with Irish Mist's answer. But I'll add it's an adult site which contains sexually explicit material. But I don't see it as porn because I don't think the majority of folks are getting off to what's posted here, nor do I think the intent of the site is for people to get off while reading it.
