ORIGINAL: UniqueRaven I would just like to point out that there are many things we do that cause wear and tear over time. Walking is one of them. Typing on the computer, sitting in a chair, using a mouse, driving a car, typing on a keyboard...the list goes on. Our bodies are made to slowly degrade over time, unfortunately...it's all just a matter of choices. For me, I follow the advocacy of keeping moving, and for the things I do that strain my body, I do activities that relieve that strain (i.e. yoga, stretching, meditation, etc). It works for me, keeps me young (12 years now) and it's all in the balance. :) Not advocating the 24/7/365 fantasy though. That's silly, and goes against the "balance" I mention above... It just always amazes me how we have to think in extremes. Yes, the 24/7/365 fantasy is an unreasonable extreme. But so is the "don't do it your feet will fall off" (tongue in cheek) response. Balance always falls somewhere in the middle, and it depends upon the individual, his/her health, and the situation. And of course that is the problem with many 24/7 fantasies: our bodies are not meant to do things such as being in a cage 24/7 or being bound to a cross or other such activities that place them in unnatural positions for prolonged periods and even our normal activities such as: "Walking is one of them. Typing on the computer, sitting in a chair, using a mouse, driving a car, typing on a keyboard...the list goes on. "; none of them are singularly meant to be done 24/7. The consequences of being sedentary are a good example of that. Balance is all about variety. Wearing stockings in 100 degree heat 24/7 as suggested above will lead to fungal foot diseases.
