I'll relieve you of the burden of agreement by carrying it to the next level...unless youre hopelessly doomed and continue to agree.

Just because he doesnt commit to specific policies for fear of being blamed when they fuck up (the stimulus cut those balls off), doesnt mean he doesnt have specific policies. He just lets his lackies Reid and Pelosi take the laboring oars, and if his policies fuck up they will take the oar up the orifice.

Reid signs off on the latest plan as the GOP looks like it will win the day and set the tone for the 2012 elections.

I noticed that too. I guess now he can get on with the really important issues facing this country, like getting himself reelected. I have a feeling he won't be thinking of much else from now on.

2012 will be between an incumbent president who understands the issues this country faces but doesn't have the political skill to execute a plan to deal with them AND on the other side, one of a whole list of people who have zero understanding of our own economy or foreign policy, and serve only their corporate donors.

Isn't the 2-party system wonderful?

What a HUGE disappointment.

Obama showed ZERO leadership in this case. Two weeks ago, he should have said to the Republicans...

"Vote for a one-line bill to raise the debt ceiling within one week, or I will instruct the US Treasury to meet our obligations any way they deem necessary in order to protect the full faith and credit of the US." "And by the way, I will be presenting my plan for deficit reduction tomorrow"

Not exactly what happened.

Totally agree with what you've said here

Both parties did everything they could to destroy the country rather than let the "other guys" get some credit.

Now, they'll all light up cigars and claim victory and let their pundits spin it.

Can someone call a joint meeting of the house and senate, get enough of that duct tape and plastic film that homeland security was selling to us back in '02, seal up the capitol building then pump it full of something appropriately lethal so we can start over?

Maybe that's why the Kenyan was so keen to have OBL done away with? He was worried that Jihad boy might put in a tender for this extermination job at the capitol you're suggesting...

Nobody won here, this situation is unwinnable

That said, the only ones acting sensibly were the Tea Partiers

Current spending levels are unsustainable, only fools can possibly disagree with that absolute fact

In its simplest form, it is merely a debt to equity ratio.  No one wants to make the hard decisions and the country declines further.  You are right...it is un-winnable and there is no solution.  Well...perhaps the only solution is total collapse and the resurrection of a new system but the steady decline marches on.

Right the ones not only not worried about default but the ones actually calling for it.

In other words,the extremists.

Talk about an alternate reality.......

"Nobody won here" coming from an extremist neo-con,means the cons lost.

Then there`s the fact that the republican party brought us to the brink of disaster AGAIN,just to selfishly make points. But that`s going to come back as votes AGAINST them in '12'.

Obama is a shoe in for a second term.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that far, DG.  The stage is set for one hell of a dirty, polarizing fight.  Look at the rhetoric that came into play through this performance.  The Dems are only going to ramp it up further for the election.  Next November will be decided by the independents, and the dumbasses who vote for the tall one.  If the economy starts improving, he has a good shot, if not, he can go scoop up the Bo droppings on the Rezco Lawn.

As I'm reading what I'm seeing of the reports, it looks like Obama traded away his tax increases, in exchange for getting the debt limit hike to carry past the election.

I wouldnt go that far because he misspelled it. Its "shoo-in", unless the reference is to his anal kink. The only thing Id add is that the burden on automatic deficit reduction is on defense spending. BUT, there will be the usual exceptions for war etc, so there is a lot of room for accounting tricks to convert budget based spending to "emergency" spending.

Perhaps the most important concession the Democrats made is in the baseline..... deficits will be measured against..it assumes that the Bush tax cuts remain in place.

Guess what, pig farmer. As soon as the GOP took over they put in a Budget proposal that the Senate refused to consider. For about 650 of those 862 days the Dems controlled EVERYTHING,

This and the 2012 election isn`t over yet....sparky.

It is somewhat ironic that the only thing that can save Obama in 2012 is the Tea Party forcing economic policy on him that will actually work. Take a look at an electoral map after redistribution of delegates and redistricting. The election is likely to depend on 5 states...and if the GOP wins any one of them, done deal.

Obama is a shoe in for a second term. Only fat over the hill white folk put any relevance on that sack of shit group of ninkompoops.

What does that make you?  One of the black folk looking for a handout or some food stamps?  I mean....I'm just saying.  White people swept this loser into office.  Now you bring race into it and say it is only over the hill white folk that oppose him.  That makes you..........what?  Well...white or black, after talking to you, you are clearly someone in need of a nanny government to take care of you.
