Till there is a vote and the details known I wouldnt declare victory for either side. The general framework in the article does sound favorable, and Im watching govtrack for details.

Our economy and especially our tax codes need a major overhaul. Why do you fear an election with that as a core issue?

What a HUGE disappointment. Obama showed ZERO leadership in this case. Two weeks ago, he should have said to the Republicans... "Vote for a one-line bill to raise the debt ceiling within one week, or I will instruct the US Treasury to meet our obligations any way they deem necessary in order to protect the full faith and credit of the US." "And by the way, I will be presenting my plan for deficit reduction tomorrow" Not exactly what happened.

If he never takes a position he can never be accused of taking the wrong position.

We can gauge how well the President did by how ornery conservatives are. I couldn`t care less about folks who say he isn`t to the left enough or progressive enough. He ran as a moderate and is governing like a moderate.
