It is not me who doesn't understand.

Again, please provide me a link showing where Sarah Palin or the Tea Party has claimed responsibility for the book banning in Republic, Missouri.

Palin wouldn`t own up to the books she tried to ban.

I guess now you`ll say she didn`t try to ban books?

I did provide you with two links - one from the San Antonio Tea Party - but you quibble because you want to belong to a different Tea Party than most of the Tea Party chapters that are actully run by the social conservatives.

Clearly you are in the minority of the Tea Party membership because, as the San Antonio Tea party said,

quote:

“...nearly half of tea party movement supporters also identify with the Christian conservative movement.”

You personally may not identify yourself as a member of the Christian conservative movement, but don't B.S. us
by claiming that the majority of the Tea Party are NOT also part of the Christian conservative movement.

There's a very old adage: "If you lie with the dogs - you'll end up having fleas".

Lie around with the Christian conservative movement majority of the Tea Party dogs - and their fleas wil get on you and you will be identified (maybe falsely, maybe not) as a follower of the Christian conservative movement as well.

BTW: I am a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ - but unlike the Christian conservative movement, I don't feel oppressed by non-Christians. I feel oppressed by the "Christian" conservatives.

well the tea party is being set up to fail just lile every other group that ever went up against the 2 party dicktatorship.

first off its all hearsay unless someone has a signed affidavit, and even the hearsay claims that she did it not of her own purposes but by request of her constituents.

"he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them."

Last time I checked that is what a representaive is SUPPOSED to do regardless of their own personal beliefs.

Jordan Sekulow is a human rights attorney and Director of International Operations at the American Center for Law & Justice.

The American Center for Law & Justice is a conservative Christian, pro-life group that was founded in 1990 by evangelical Pat Robertson.

What you have here is a right-wing Christian Dominionist trying to pass off his crap as "social conservatism."

And you just ate it.

Good grief almighty!

You people have the most twisted logic... it is no wonder every little hiccup sends you into a tizzy.

[sarcasm]OMG!  Nearly half of tea party movement supporters also identify with the Christian conservative movement!  That must mean that the yahoo who didn't like the books must be a Tea Partier!  The Tea Party is all for book banning![/sarcasm]

Sheesh louise!  I'll bet that nearly half of the tea party movement has brown eyes.  According to your logic, that must means that anyone with brown eyes must be an evil, twisted conservative!

What color are your eyes???  *looks suspiciously at you*

Bro, look, I can't stand what Tea Party mentality is doing to the US, but "nearly half" is not "the majority," just saying.

We know you and Firm are two of the "good" ones [;)],but this "I have no idea what you`re talking about" naive act is pretty disingenuous.

Can you tell us why, without PRETENDING you have no idea, are white supremacist groups trying to get into your so called "tea-party movement"?

Not that most "tea-partiers" are racists, they aren`t,but why are these groups not trying to join the democratic party?

What is it about the tea-part(GOP same thing) that attracts these hate groups?

http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/the-tea-party-white-supremacy-connection/question-1458023/

The Tea Party has many times been accused of racist rhetoric but it is my belief the majority of Tea Party activists are not racist but that the Tea Party has been infiltrated and in some places taken over by white supremacist groups to be used for spreading their racism and white supremacist views.

When the Tea Party was first formed David Duke a former congressman and admitted Grand Wizard of the KKK immediately tried to claim the Tea Party and said he would run for president for the Tea Party and speak at Tea party rallies. He was not successful at getting a leadership position but the groups associated with his movement have infiltrated the Tea Party.

Who is David Duke

David Ernest Duke (born July 1, 1950) is an American white nationalist, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, former Louisiana State Representative, and a candidate in the Democratic presidential primaries in 1988 and in the general election for President in 1992 as a member of the Republican Party.-wiki

David Duke for Tea party president: http://www.davidduke.com/general/will-dr-david-duke-run-for-u...

CofCC Council of Conservative Citizens

The CofCC has openly admitted to organizing and attending Tea Party rallies and the are the largest white supremacy group even larger than the KKK with 15,000 members. They are the suit and tie racists that have the money and power to be government leaders, military leaders, corporate heads, and in law enforcement.

The CofCC is the brains of the white supremacy movement and produces CCC video used by the Tea Party and groups like pushbacknow .com. They have their own radio and internet broadcast stations and are more subtle and deceptive in getting people to believe their views usually playing on patriotism.

"Though it had deep roots in Southern politics and claimed 15,000 members— more than the Ku Klux Klan has boasted for decades — the white-supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) was a mystery to most Americans until 1998. Late that year, a scandal erupted over prominent Southern politicians' ties to the brazenly racist group."

Welcome to Tea Party America - coming to your town soon.

What utter tripe.  [8|]

Book bannings have been going on since the dawn of time (hyperbole there, folks).  Okay... so some small town (population less than 15,000 people as of 2009) banned a couple of books.

Do I agree with their choices?  Not particularly, but it is their school system.   It affects their children, in the schools that they pay for.  If the majority of people don't like it, they'll elect a new school board and rescind the ban.  If they like it, more power to 'em.

Otherwise, it isn't yours or anyone else's business.

That being said, your reasoning that connects this particular book banning to the Tea Party is complete nonsense.  As I've pointed out, book bannings have been happening for a long time.  For that matter, Christians have existed for a long time.  Social conservatives have been around for a long time, too... and they aren't all Christians.

Just because the Tea Party is relatively new, doesn't mean that any new book bannings should be attributed to the Tea Party.  [8|]

Especially in a county that McCain only got 58% and 56% belong to a religious congregation. But the most important thing you said is its a local issue.

You really need to sit down and get your head screwed on straight.
Survey: Four in 10 Tea Party members are Democrats or independents

Four in 10 Tea Party members are either Democrats or Independents, according to a new national survey. The findings provide one of the most detailed portraits to date of the grassroots movement that started last year... Moreover, given the choice Tea Party members favor 63-32 reducing unemployment to 5 percent over balancing the budget.
And contrary to the usual "trailer park" image, Tea Party demographics parallel the mainstream:

Treasure, don't you see what's going on here? Each month that passes by makes it more and more difficult to "blame Bush" so now they blame, the tea party!  Michael Savage was talking about the tea party and said there really is no "tea party", it's an amalgum of thousands of groups and individuals who want to change the way our country does business.
The tea party is what happens when govt. doesn't listen to the People.
I don't think anyone in here could or would argue that The People need to have a LOT more control over our govt.

Savage is pretty much correct, but with the advent of the Tea Party Caucus there is bound to be some coalescing around fewer more centralized organizations.
