i went to the doctor today. Well let me start a month ago. Daddy got laid off from work which leaves us relying mainly on my meager income and Him doing temp work. Because of my health W/we had to get state assistance in order for me to continue getting vital medications every month. When i checked in at the doctor today the receptionist looked at her friend and said "another welfare mom". i was shocked! i am not on welfare! i do receive food stamps and medical for myself and O/our 2 yr old but that is NOT welfare. All day i have felt like a failure. Daddy has reminded me without these programs we would go hungry and i may die. Why is there such a stigma about people who really need help?? i work! Daddy works... Yet we need these programs to survive after rent, gas, utilities, and baby costs!! as reminded me without these programs we would go hungry and i may die. That's unacceptable. I hope you complained to the doctor because that's a woman who should lose her job. If you didn't, then do so. These programs are in place to help people in need. When you folks were working, part of your paycheck went to fund these programs. You have no reason to be ashamed that now it's your turn to need help.

Don't sweat it. You might want to say something but do not feel like a failure over this shit, because it is a bunch of shit. First of all people are unhealthy because food conglomerates have bought up the particular government agencies they needed, and the drug companies have bought up some others. Then people work for shit wages because the government and their buddies are hell bent on not leaving one iota of wealth for anyone else. And at one time I would never take a fucking dime from them, but now that they came up with this TARP money, FUCK THEM. Take all you can get, and I will help any way I can. People pay all these taxes for them to take care of this country but instead they piss it away on yachts and Learjets and shit. FUCK THEM. Fuck them and the Rolls Royce they rode in in. If I had a million dollars I would apply for food stamps. You know someone actually did that and got them ? It was a quirk in the regulations. That million he had in the bank didn't count for whatever reason. They are looking into correcting that. Take every goddamn dime from them you can get. Fukum. I can give you five easy steps to get a check for the rest of your life. I don't do it for certain reasons, very specific reasons that do not apply to almost anyone else. But I could. I could do it tomorrow. Want details just say the word. T^T

It's the economy and that receptionist or whomever it was who said that should lose her job. There is nothing wrong with needing help every now and again, it is why those programs are in place and it pisses me off that the R/Tbaggers would like to eliminate them. I was on SSI, Medicaid and food stamps for 15 years due to a disability. Now I'm working and paying some of that, though admittedly a small percentage, back. Keep your chin up and good luck

That comment was completely unprofessional and unethical, and possibly even a HIPAA violation, because personal information is supposed to be confidential, not discussed with other personnel unless it's directly related to patient care, and "another welfare mom" is not related to patient care. If you haven't already, please report her to her supervisor and to the doctor, and if they do nothing, go further up in the corporation that most likely owns the practice. They usually frown highly on this kind of stuff. If she loses her job, maybe she'll have to apply for assistance, see what it's like, and then maybe get a little attitude reset. Good lesson to be learnt.

i did report the receptionist. Daddy went one step further and reported her to the local RMA board. He was mad. My disabilities are bad enough that i do not need that crap. Doc gives me 2 years before i go back to part time use of a wheel chair and 5 before full time use. Probably 10 years i lose use of lower limbs. i wanna see that bug faced troll in my shoes!!! ok rant over

What is wrong with you ? I don't mean that sarcastically. Throw it out there maybe someone has some ideas. The doc says you are fucked as far as he knows, so what do you have to lose ? T^T

Some people use public assistance programs exactly as they are to be used...as a stepping stone to get things that they need. I was on welfare myself after having my first son as a single mother. I took the nasty comments and dirty looks in stride and was grateful that I could go to school while having a roof over our heads and food to eat. I've been repaying that assistance back ever since I got out of school by being a taxpayer. That was 30 years ago, I'd say that the government got a good return on their investment in me. I'm glad you reported that woman, she deserved it. Anyone who passes judgement audibly doesn't deserve to be in contact with the public in a professional position. You can never assume that you know what someone else's situation is. I hope she gets in trouble for it and hopefully learns something.

I respect people that are on assistance of whatever sort and they are doing their best and working at a whatever their job is but it isnt enough. The receptionist was a jerk and the posters situation is none of her business. And no matter who pays the cost of the visit, the poster going to that Doctor helps to pay that bitch's wages. She is also the Doctors responsibility and by saying things like that, she makes him look bad for the simple reason that he hired her. I dont know what HIPAA does to protect people, I wonder if people can sue when someone violates that law. [8\|]

Probably a reprimand. If this is the only time it happened you can't just fire somebody. But then that might be one hell of a lesson eh ? T^T edited because of fat fucking fingers. Oh, and Ladies, my fingers last alot longer than........ you know.

I keep wondering when this receptionist said this was she stating this to a nurse or another receptionist so the other person knew what kind of insurance to input into the computer system? Or did she say it in a manner to denigrate? If she said it in a manner to denigrate then you probably have a valid complaint against her and she'll probably be reprimanded if it's her first warning. In most businesses I've ever worked you had to have at least 3 written warnings before you could be fired.

i know that in the land of the fruits and nuts on the left coast it is a hire and fire at will state which means they can fire you for anything and no reason at all except that you are fired end of sentence because that has happened to me and it takes a lot to prove any other reason they just had me come into their office listen on the speaker phone and had me sign a non disclosure statement and all they said was we do not need your assistance anymore for the company

Whatcha do ? Perhaps nothing. But firing them, there must be standards. Dealing with people all day, you don't know them. I'm not saying not to judge people, but you have nothing to go on. Who the fuck who pays taxes likes a welfare Mother who has six kids, never worked a day in her life and doesn't even know where to look for the Daddies ? But how the fuck do they know if it's someone who worked every day of their gaddamned life but got sick for a while and got behind on everything ? I will never say not to judge people, because that would be lying, facetious, whatever. But to judge someone too quickly is a deadly sin. And remember I don't believe in God. T^T

she was saying it to be a bitch in a packed waiting room to another RMA who later apologized to me. The same state medical here that is given to welfare moms is also given to disabled people under 65 and several other people that do not even involve welfare. So i am 25 with 2 kids and since my hands are so fucking swollen i cant wear my wedding band i am automatically a welfare mom who pops out kids to pump the system... T^T i have degenerative bone and disk disease of the spine and i got hit by a car last year. It ruined my back further and also screwed up the nerves from my hips to my feet. Also have psuedotumor cerebri and a neuro doc who has no clue what he is doing. Probably goinng to drag his feet til i am blind or deaf. Continuing the list i have several compression fractures of the spine that are beginning to compress the spinal cord.... Yay me!!!

OK, so this person wasn't professional. At the same time, she wasn't technically wrong, either. All forms of government assisted aid really is welfare. Disability, medicaid, etc are all under the same umbrella. Your personal offense doesn't change that fact.
