this kinda relates to my red dwarf thread

whats your fav comedies

mine were

only fools and horses
open all hours
red dwarf
friends
porridge (nearly forgot)

and loved frasier

and had a love hate relationship with sex and the city

not many comedies nowadays unless you count family guy as a comedy STEWIE for EL PRESIDENTE

windchymes -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 12:07:07 PM)

M*A*S*H* will always be #1 in my mind.

I Love Lucy
That Girl
Laugh-In
All In The Family
Mary Tyler Moore
Happy Days
Night Court
Frasier
Golden Girls

Probably more that I can't think of.

I don't watch any current ones, but I have seen Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two & a Half Men on occasion and liked them.

There are quite a few that I have liked enough to watch over the years, but the ones that I will almost always watch if I see a rerun as I'm flipping through channels -

Seinfeld and Frasier

And...current ones - the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, and Tosh O. (Because I'm immature.)

igor2003 -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 12:50:22 PM)

Soap
Happy Days
That 70's Show
Hogan's Heros
Married With Children
Two And a Half Men
Gilligan's Island

(Edited to add:)
Taxi
Mork and Mindy

found family guy a few months ago, can be quite brilliant sometimes. Some gags are too american based for most brits but any stewie/brian based shows are fab

DavidLee44UK -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 2:59:41 PM)

love family guy also like american dad

esp patrick stewart and the alien from hangar 13

MasterG2kTR -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 4:19:39 PM)

The best comedy was from the days of live television (yeah I know....dating myself)
Jackie Gleason
Red Skelton
Milton Berle

But I like more modern ones as well (some mentioned above)
M*A*S*H
Gilligan's Island
Barney Miller
Married With Children

JstAnotherSub -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 4:23:06 PM)

Carol Burnett.....gawd I adore her.

soul2share -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 4:30:54 PM)

I grew up watching Jackie Gleason....he was great!  And Red Skelton.....it wasn't Saturday night without them!

I loved Carol Burnett and the whole cast of characters with her. I used to love to see Harvey and Tim to to crack up the others.....you could tell it was all they could do not to bust a gut laughing!  TV back then was so simple.. you either laughed or cried.

Recent stuff is two and half men...caught it on Spike in reruns.....of course, I find it as the whole Charlie thing breaks loose.   That 70's show, How I met your mother.....I don't watch much TV because of my schedule, but I catch them on late at night.

SuckerforYou -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 4:31:09 PM)

Trailer Park Boys (Canadian Mockumentary) Available on Netflix
Golden Girls
Tosh O
ABC World News Now (Vinita Nair Editions)

Anaxagoras -> RE: fav comedies (8/5/2011 5:44:40 PM)

Way too many to list but I'm enjoying repeats of Ever Decreasing Circles at the moment. Richard Briers is excellent. Perhaps its something of a forgotten gem?

I've also been watching an old tape from the late 1990's of "Brass Eye" and "The Adam and Joe Show" episodes, which has been fucking up the VCR heads but its worth it. [:)]

Corner Gas, which (if there was any doubt) definitively proves the Canadians have a sense of humour... unlike Brent Butt's follow up "Hiccups" which is pretty bad IMHO.

Seinfeld was the best but it can be weird for some at first because its often about very minor things that take on a great profundity.
