Failure to comprehend or accept facts on your part does not constitute ignorance on my part.

Everything in the post was factual, but if you think otherwise, you are welcome to refute point by point.

Your reference to another who provides facts as being an "idealogue" speaks plenty here.

My comments and conclusions stand.

Of course they do.

That's what political science is about; ideology trumps fact, in that world. Which makes the claim from someone in that world ascribing "economic ignorance" to someone who deals with economics as a course of study all the more ridiculous. But I'm not laughing, seeing as what trouble the idiocy you and your ilk spout constantly bring upon society.

I haven't done a study, of course, but I'd be willing to bet that people who make a fucking career out of complaining about "the rich" are different from the rest of us too.

K.

Good point. I bet if they spent all the time and energy they waste complaining about rich people on actually doing something productive, they would be a lot closer to rich themselves.

You mean Like Donald Trump who inherited his wealth from daddy and still had the balls to publish a book on how to become a millionaire?

I didn't realize Trump spent a lot of time bitching about rich people[8|]

It's not a matter of "complaining about the rich," it's a matter of the amazing disparity in wealth...

Really? Damn, I thought it was about how the rich (those sick bastards) were "less empathetic, less altruistic, and generally more selfish" than the rest of us. But hey, I apologize. Dunno where I ever got such a silly idea.

K.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Yet .....ANOTHER....study regarding the wealthy (8/12/2011 4:20:30 PM)

No reason to apologize when you were speaking the truth...they are less empathetic, less altruistic, and generally more selfish than the rest of us.

Edwynn -> RE: Yet .....ANOTHER....study regarding the wealthy (8/12/2011 5:13:21 PM)

Except that the few of them who actually give a crap about anything at all are
the most despised and the most vilified of all by the Saturday night tent attendees.

Just say "Soros" or "Buffet" and watch them hit the ceiling in less than two nanoseconds.

I never even knew who those guys were before political forums, and never witnessed such hate prior to.

There is no sin more grave to self-righteous idiots than witnessing billionaires giving  consideration to anything other than stomping on other's faces and  stealing as many tax dollars as possible.

You (and some of the other posters) will never have anything or obtain anything of great value, other than through your ability to squeeze or steal it from others who have it.

How can I say that?

Because of your attitude.

With such poisonous attitudes, you will never understand how money (capital) is grown. You'll never be able to form the relations that will help you achieve the kind of success that you so desire, but can't see happening.  You will never be able to manage any type of business of scale.

The "report" or "study" that started this thread?  A manipulated, self-justifying line of crap that was driven by the author's need to justify the same hatred and envy that you display.

You may "do well" in the coming times of trouble as a bandit, a con-man, or a government official, but you are incapable of much else, absent a major change in your attitude.

Or if you do obtain a modicum of success, you will become the worst example of exactly what you rail against in this thread.

Here's a favorite quote of mine:

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”
You, and others like you, think it's "the rich" (i.e. anyone who has a dime more than you do) are "keeping you down", are "less empathetic, less altruistic, and generally more selfish" are correct: when it comes to people such as you. Knowing your attitude, I wouldn't give you a chance to fuck me over, fuck my business over nor would I give you a chance or opportunity that I might give to a dog on the street.  To you, I would certainly appear "less empathetic, less altruistic, and generally more selfish".

Because we "rich" understand that people like you are dangerously deluded, self-righteous bigots whose hatred eats them from inside and will eventually end up with an explosion that we don't want to be around.

Man up, face reality, be responsible for yourself and change your attitude.

That won't mean that you become "rich and successful" or have a beautiful life, but failure to do so will guarantee that you won't, and make your life one of utter misery, hatred and despair.

Enough with you.  You waste my time and energy, when there are so many more pleasant people to interact with.

Unfortunately, people are like crabs, pulling each other back down to the bottom of the barrel.

In the movie Pursuit of Happyness, based on a true story of homeless to very successful, "people can't do somethin... they wanna tell you You can't do it.... If you want it, go get it... period..."

The same way you come up with every other complete fabrication in that febrile mind of yours, that's how.

By the way, perfect description of the Koch brothers in the quoted paragraph above.

I've never once railed against 'rich people' here or anywhere else. I rail against ineptitude and use of government office for private gain. I do not exclude from such scrutiny those who happen to have a larger bank account.

I know this is going to go right over your head, but I've already said more than once here that it's not about how much money one has, but how it was obtained.

I know your type; when someone presents too many facts that interfere with your fairytale, you pronounce them as having an "attitude."

quote:

You would be doing yourself a great favor by not embarrassing yourself repeatedly in speaking anything of economics when you are in fact clueless on the subject. Capital is not 'grown,' it is invested. Wealth is grown. You don't even know what the Solow growth model is, yet propose to spout your idiocy to someone who knows that and much more.

There's that "attitude" on display again.

You name just about every leftist boogie man in your posts about any organization or person who has money.

Please, name for me an industry, company or billionaire who you believe "obtained" it "the right way".

And if you name one or two, then further, answer me the question ... what percentage of such people make up the entire class of "rich"?

At 90k, you can line up for the head-chopping, cake-eating exercise that'll soon be located somewhere near Wall Street, where all the rich and wealthy destroyers of the US will be guillotined, while the 89k and below, also known as the poor, will snarf Little Debbie cakes, guzzle kool-aid, and chant angry slogans. After which, they will turn to Obama because he's also poor to redistribute the accumulated wealth of the vanquished beasts.

This is so they don't have to steal cable any more.

But St. O will chide them for ignoring his definition of wealthy at 200k, so as to inspire guilt and angst among his followers. This will create an abasement period, where sound of many teeth gnashing together will drown out all sound upon the face of the earth, and campers will be robbed of the ashes from their fireplaces so the chastened can be properly anointed.

I believe that varies depending upon where the person resides and the living conditions and income of their neighbours.

To a Somalian mother, watching her children die of starvation, I am wealthy beyond measure....as I sit here in my AC, on a worn leather sofa, eating my lox and bagels, watching Spongebob surrounded by three dogs that have just eaten better than her family has in longer than she can remember.

To my friend Randy, the gaming machine genius, I am quite poor. He spends more in a day on auto parts for one of his newer business ventures than I earn in a year.

To people that insist upon bashing the wealthy, I suggest they do some serious research on lottery winners. I suggest they do some reading on the psychology of money and wealth building. The greater percentage of people that do not have wealth, if given wealth, would lose that wealth rather quickly.

How often do we hear of entertainers and sports figures, that earned a large amount of money, ending up broke. They are clueless about managing wealth so they lose it. Most people are the same.

Those of us that have not, bitch and demonize those that have......none of us have demonstrated that we have what it takes to be a have. On some level we are aware of that, it pisses us off, we glorify the haves and their lifestyle, then assume they must be more horrible human beings than we are because they've got it and we don't.

It's all human nature.

barelynangel -> RE: Yet .....ANOTHER....study regarding the wealthy (8/13/2011 7:55:18 AM)

I didn't say the article lol i mean people on these boards who bitch about rich people, i am curious what they consider rich.
I mean in this day and age people worth 5 million aren't rich they are upper middle class.   While they may be seen as wealthy, they sure the fuck aren't rich.

So it always amuses me because this comes across as envy and jealousy.   I could see wanting a fair concept but much of these arguments come across to me as children who want what others have and if they can't have it (which MOST people in this country even if they get a fair shake across the board will NEVER reach the level of those they call rich) then no one should.

LaTigresse -> RE: Yet .....ANOTHER....study regarding the wealthy (8/13/2011 7:57:35 AM)

It's funny....I see so much shrieking about the possibility of the far left wanting, what they perceive as socialism, but when they start whining about, and attacking, what the wealthy have.....it sure looks like that is what they really want!

barelynangel -> RE: Yet .....ANOTHER....study regarding the wealthy (8/13/2011 7:57:46 AM)

LaTigresse

You mentioned what i mean -- most people even if they got everything political against the "rich" they wanted, would still be bitching because they will never be able to achieve what the "rich" they covett have.  So they will always bitch about the rich because they want what they have and know they cannot get it so they want it given to them.

But as with lottery winners -- even when people get it, they have no clue how to keep it.   THIS is what divides those who are rich and those who aren't.  It's not the amount of money had -- its they know how to maintain it or make it.  The average joe doesn't and never will.

I always said if i win the lotto, i would have my momma deal with the money because they know how to deal with their money and that has allowed them a upper middle class lifestyle (though she would want me to split with my brother [:'(])  All in all, i know if i handled it it would be gone within 5 years...
