"Thats a tad bit unfair, T.  Not all renal failure is caused by the patient."

Maybe the fingers fly too fast at times. I do not mean to imply that people's maladies are self caused. I will say that some are, but that takes some abuses usually. Kidney failure is not among them as far as I can see. Who knows ? Maybe there is something that can cause it, but if we don't know what that is we can't do shit.

"No. It is a simple matter of chemistry. If too much phosphorous is in your blood it will chemically combine with calcium, leeched from your bones. This can cause brittle bones and all the rerst of the problems of low bone density."

Alright Mr. Answers, I have questions. One, are you saying that excessive phosphorous in the body NOT having a renal problem will cause osteo type problems ? If so, I'll accept that, but two, are you saying that the toxic or excessive level is lower in those with renal problems ?

I've read of other instances in which this seemed true, when an essential nutrient is not well tolerated because of a certain condition. Are you saying this is the case here ?

Update:

The gal is home- we waved and said hello when she left her dogs out.

She sounded upbeat.

Maybe it was a false alarm, they pulled that shit with my Father. One day everything is fine except for a relatively minor stroke. Then they started that renal failure shit, but next time in he was fine for some reason. Then they started this congestive heart failure shit but for some reason a week or so later he had the heart of a twenty year old. Not to mention that at one time someone misplaced a zero on his dosage on a vasodilator which, if he wasn't watching this shit for himself may have killed him. ( 10 X the dosage )

They fuck up all the time. You'll know, if she has to keep going in a few times a week forever then you know. If she doesn't then you know. Last year I had about the only full physical in my life, and I mean comprehensive. I mean it took almost a day. They never found the problem and said I should live to be 100.

Now watch me drop dead tomorrow. At 8:04 AM no doubt ! LOL.

ETA : Ewwww, her dogs haven't been out in that long ?

Excessive phosphorous can be problematic in anyone. Healthy kidneys typically dump the excess very effiently. If you've ever heard that cola drinks can be bad for bones the culprit there is also excess phosphorous.

To the best of my knowledge there isn't anything unusual about people in kidney failure in relation to tolerance for phosphorous. The problem is dialysis does not remove the excess like the kidneys would.

Thank you.

While I don't need to know about the soda, the rest seems to make some sense. We can all get an imbalance of minerals and it is true that the kidneys are quite involved in removing the excess. Other maladies may have their peculiar problems, but when the kidneys do not do their job, this relevels the whole ballpark. This means that a specific balance is not only required, but may be critical.

I will have to think on this, but I will say this much, the excessive amount of sugar in soda is PROBABLY worse than the phophorous, but I am not asserting that at this time. Absoption is also a factor, and I am not yet hep to how that is affected. It would seem not to be, but you never know. Thing is there is no way to get a precise amount unless you are a lab rat of sorts. Who can predict ? When things work right you just get a bunch of the nutrients you need and piss the rest out - literally.

I have to do a bit of research before I can say any more.

Her boyfriend who lives a few doors down let the dogs out- and fed the 5 cats.   Her bf has 4 cats.   Next door has 1.  I have 1.

I am stuck here.   Like anyone else is that is upside down in the house note.
(I would share details- but off the board)

I am pretty fed off with barking dogs.    One good thing about winter- is with the furnace- I wont hear that.

I want to thank everyone who posted here.

My dinner neighbor  and I discussed the points here- and it eased our mind with regard to the neighbor gal.

So YES!   Cool.

I'm glad she's home PA and that she seems fine.  Hope everything has been resolved.

I was not trying to sell my blood..... I was trying to sell my kidney.
That is legal right

Ashjor, this isn't a laughing matter, and it's illegal to sell body parts period.  Not to say there aren't unscrupulous doctors and wealthy patients who go that route, but it's still not legal.  And woe on them if they're caught. Docs will lose their licenses for that, or should if the system works well.
