The union office ( WEAC ) is laying off employees because 50% of the teachers will decide to no longer pay union dues. If they all decided to write a check to the local every month the layoffs wouldn't be needed.

Please stop this "Confiscated Money" horseshit. If you don't match contributions, then you have to pay MORE TOTAL TAKE-HOME PAY TO OFFSET THE "TOTAL BENEFITS" LOSS.... Basic Math. We pay people X/year in salary and benefits. If you cut the benefits, you have to raise the salary to keep X constant.... UNLESS you're planning on fucking them in the ass and just taking away their benefits ( cutting their Total Comp... ) ... Only a douchebag would do that, though, right?
