A woman without a breast is still a woman. Often times a man who's had testicular or prostate cancer has trouble even seeing himself as a man....and society doesn't help much.

I hate to sound like I'm argueing. I really do. But you are very wrong that I can hardly begin to explain it. You are right on the point that everyone should know about both and that none of it should be rammed down anyones throat. But having said that let  me relate a little story to you. As I stated in another thread back in May I was bitten by a shark. I lost the lower half of my left leg and a big hunk of the inside of my left leg. I lost my labia majora...if you don't know what that is look it up. I have a dom that had prostate cancer. He has no problems telling me not to worry about if his dick works or not. He is still a man, every bit a man. I now on the other hand have had to explain to more than one person(him included) that I am, at least at the moment, lacking of the desire to take my clothing off infront of anyone. I have, in my opinion, some serious frankinstein pussy going on and it makes me feel very non female. I am sure it differs from person to person but women have for a very long time been summed up by what they look like. So the lack of a breast can affect them in a horrid way. Society doesn't make it easy on ANYONE.

Thanks for sharing that very personal account.  And so recent too--hope you are on the mend! (I am an avid snorkeler, and have a healthy fear of sharks--came entirely too close by accident on at least one occasion.)  You are fortunate to be with someone who loves you for who are, as you are!

best.

Child, these names you are called for they are true of your behaviour upon these fora.

Well child, I guess we're all even as the names I call others are true of their behavior as well.

I too recall a prior thread wherin you expressed a preference for the single life, with the marked preference for the services of a prostitute as well expressed. You expressed this preference with much insult and derision, and much foul language as well.

Well then I see you are just as illiterate as she is. Because in that thread you both cling to so tightly, I simply said that since a man pays for movies, dinners and such while he's dating a woman, it was no different than paying for sex. I also said that in some ways, the explicit paying for sex might be the better option because it would negate all the bullshit drama. I never indicated a personal preference for going to hookers.

Furthermore, in that thread I also mentioned seeking relationships with non-American women potentially being preferable to seeking them with American women. The other poster *assumed* I meant mail-order brides and just ran with it as though I'd said it myself. I did not.

I personally find most of the more vulgar name-calling distasteful, regardless of who is doing it, and I try not to engage it if I can control myself.   Your posts strike me as misogynist views--I'm not surprised at all that you've been called that before.

As I said. You just let me know when you've turned this lecture toward them as well and then perhaps I'll take it into consideration.

Let me give you a bit of a chicken/egg history lesson: the names pre-dated the attitude, not vice versa. I have, in the past, very calmly and politely explained some of my preferences for old-fashioned ways. For that I was called the names I mentioned. You see, some think that by throwing about such labels, they can shame a person into changing their views. They failed.

I will not bow to pseudo-feminists and I will not be shamed into changing my views. Ergo, I don't run from the labels they try to assign to me, I own them. However, in owning the labels they assign me, I have a few labels of my own for them. And I have no issue assigning such labels.

Much like those who lose bits to cancer, you are no less a woman now than you were then. The feeling you feel is in your mind. Trouble is, as in most cases, the voice in your head can drown out the ones outside. This doesn't make the inner voice any more correct, just louder.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 8:30:59 PM)

I'm working my way backwards, but I would truly suggest everyone (some more so than others) take a chill pill, NOW. I'm sure some posts will be dissappearing before this post. I would rather not pull any after it....the users that make me pull one after it would probably rather me not have to either.

Icarys -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 8:38:44 PM)

How'd I miss this thread!

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 8:47:29 PM)

Same way I missed it at first. It's much shorter now.

DeviantlyD -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 8:52:15 PM)

Ya know who I like? LadyHugs. That woman has class on these boards. I don't know her, yet, I have respect for the woman because of how she responds to posts on here. :)

impishlilhellcat -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 9:05:10 PM)

I had typed up a whole response and then deleted it. This thread makes me sad how could someone downplay cancer any kind of cancer? I lost a friend to breast cancer she was 27 years old when she passed away. They caught it far too late while she was breast feeding her newborn baby. She never got to see her baby grow up. I watched her go through chemo a terrible treatment by the way and then I watched the after math after they removed her breasts. Both the chemo and the removal kept her from feeding her child naturally. Another woman I worked with also, had breast cancer she survived and had her breasts removed. She would walk around absently clutching her chest because they were no longer there and often stated that her scar hurt. She often looked tired and worn out. It's a terrible ravaging disease. I also, lost my grandfather to cancer and went with him to radiation treatments 2x's a week. I was his primary care person in the home when he left the hospital. I sat by his side every night at the hospital. It's an ugly ugly thing and if one form of cancer can be cured so that they can concentrate on another form then so be it!!

As, Hausboy stated men can get breast cancer too. The American Cancer society estimates that 450 men will die from breast cancer in 2011 and 2,140 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among men. So, while you may think that all the research and funds being raised to help find a cure for breast cancer only affect women you are severely misguided and wrong. They just don't happen to be the face of the campaign.

Termyn8or -> RE: This is fucked up (8/20/2011 9:23:56 PM)

imp, my theory of cancer got a few threads tossed the fuck out. I still think I am right but people think, because of the way I put it, am marginalizing it or something. I am NOT.

If anyone wants my opinion you know how to get ahold of me. It's not that I don't want to piss people off because I actually do if they have closed minds and shit, but for some - it hurts them. As such I am not offering those opinions in the fora any more. I do not want to hurt.

AneNoz -> RE: This is fucked up (8/21/2011 1:39:15 AM)

Ever as a child you are. The fault is ever with another, always it is the women, without face or form, to whom you assign all blame, whilst remaining unsullied by responsibility. A man would not be so. But so would be a boy.

This is not so, to my recollection. It is unfortunate it is no longer in place to read, thus we will not dispute further as it is but the memory of one against another.

quote:

Furthermore, in that thread I also mentioned seeking relationships with non-American women potentially being preferable to seeking them with American women.
Myself I am a non-American woman. I reside within America at the present, whilst My Beloved undergoes cancer treatment, but the sojourn has been to brief to be of effect on me. I know not a single woman from the many nations I have seen who would accept one such as you with your anger and hatred so consuming you.

I have, in the past, very calmly and politely explained some of my preferences for old-fashioned ways.
I have, with the search, reviewed your postings. Such as you describe are not found. From the first you have exhibited arrogance, intolerance, rudeness and misogyny. Ever you do blame women for all the ills of the world. How this is so when it is the men that have the authority as ever they have, is a thing that escapes me.

Your statement is deceitful, and clumsily executed deceit as well. Thus as well as an ignorant, vengeful and foul-mouthed chauvinist, also you are a liar. Thus I have determined your nature to be, it is for this that I dismiss you.

Be at peace
Aneka

Sharks scare the hell out of me. My ex and I, back around 2001, went snorkeling near Key Largo (Pennekamp State Park) and saw a (probably) Nurse Shark swimming only a few feet under us. They tell you not to let your body emit negative "fear" waves" but I'll tell you my heart went into my throat. I'm terrified of sharks.

I feel for ya, MissI-P. I'd still be a basket case, oozing PTSD molecules. I'd never go near Shark Fin Soup or the Animal Planet Channel. I just can't imagine coping with that. I'm having a hard enough time coping with a heel ulcer and persistent MRSA (+1.5 years). Rock on.

angelikaJ -> RE: This is fucked up (8/21/2011 4:48:25 AM)

I really do love how you never gave any notice that I corrected a false impression you had regarding sex and prostate gland surgery. I said you were ignorant, but that was not a negative statement: ignorant does not mean stupid, it just means not knowing.

As for your victim stance, you have made 187 posts. To date all but 64 of them have been pulled. That is actually a rather amazing feat, when you think about it. So nearly 2/3 of your posts have been insulting or inflammatory to the point of being yanked in a span of 5 months. Now to be fair some of those were probably in P&R and cleaning house there happens fairly often with even frequent posters. And surprise, some of of your remaining posts I agree with.

But they do not yank calm and polite posts and you have demonstrated here that you lack empathy. It doesn't seem to be a lack of ability as you have over empathised with men (by seeing prostate surgery as being more devasting than breast surgery: one can not actually see the prostate gland whereas breasts are a sexual charateristic of a woman), so it then appears that women in general just don't deserve it.

hausboy -> RE: This is fucked up (8/22/2011 2:51:46 PM)

In the interest of getting this thread at least back on some semblance of the topic (I know it began with involuntary castration/removal of penis and evolved into a cancer thread among some other less admirable topics),  I'd like to post this, for Mr. DarqueMirror,,,,,
http://septembeard.org/

It's a beard grow-a-thon to benefit prostate research.  So you lazy fuckers (of the male persuasion) who don't want to walk a measly 5K for breast cancer, can sit on the couch and grow a beard to benefit prostate cancer research.  Shit, I can grow one in 1 week, no problem.... so sign up and grow a pair.

As for the other comments regarding labels and comments made to the women-- I believe that everyone on the boards, men and women, should exercise a certain amount of restraint when it comes to posting hate-speech at other posters.  You have called your views "old fashioned"....which I find interesting.  I've heard plenty of opinions that people told me were just "old fashioned" --which there were.  Old fashioned.  Old views...fashioned before the civil rights movement....when there were separate drinking fountains for the races, women had no opportunities to advance themselves in any workplace that didn't involve nurturing/care-taking, and homosexuals were restricted to the secrecy of the underground to avoid jail.   I do not miss the "good ol' days" because they really weren't that good.

I don't believe you can ever change someone's opinion, but you can change their behavior.  Hannah and Angelika's points are valid--you've had more than half your posts pulled.  Perhaps you should consider why that keeps happening to your threads.  I find it objectionable when women posters use the c-word---I find it even more offensive when men do it.

Applause for Hausboy...

for anyone living in canada who decides to get off their arse and put their money where their mouth is.
Canada just lost a politician, who sincerely tried to make a difference to regular canadians. Jack Layton was diagnosed in 2010 of prostate cancer, he died this morning due to another cancer, but was a big supporter of the site, ive mentioned.
I had to bully my old man to get tested(he is 65) Im not ready to loose him. He realised he wasnt ready to go just yet.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: This is fucked up (8/22/2011 4:07:22 PM)

I'm sorry to hear of Jack Layton's death.  I met him almost 2 yrs ago at my BIL's funeral, and he was kind enough to introduce himself to me and comfort me on our loss.  In a cathedral 1/4 full of every politician of every ilk, he was the one who stood out to me.  Not even from the same party, just a gentle man who told me how sorry he was and I knew it was really meant in a most heart-felt way.  Regardless of party lines (BIL was a top federal Liberal Party employee), all that was put aside that day and he came for the collective US of Rick's passing.  He will be sadly missed.
