I am meeting a new slave this weekend. I have advised a 30 day orientation period to make sure it is working for Me. I then would like a contract before ever owning or collaring on a 24/7 time frame. I am open to hearing thoughts on this - this is an uncollared slave moved here from out of state about 6mos ago - no other Dommes to speak with nor a previous owner as the slave was let go due to his profession and moving.

You're meeting him for the first time, and you have a 30 day orientation period? What does the orientation consist of?

If it's live-in, I think that's moving WAY too soon for a first meeting.

A contract is a good way to get basic rules in writing, but it's legally unenforceable.

Meeting and then if it goes well - moving into orientation. I will not consider 24/7 unless I believe it to be in My best interest. The dynmic has to be there. I am a firm believer that you will know within the first 2-3 months if the slave is cut out for only serving or if they are ready for more. This slave has years of training and is not new to it in any way shape or form. I understand a contract is not legal, but is for his understanding and mine as where it stands.

Any other thoughts? ideas on orientation?

My thoughts.... There are a whole lot of "MY" type of words in there.  You seem to have forgotten you are talking of forging a relationship with a person.

My second thought - What's "more than serving" mean?

The slave in question - and by the way, contract after orientation, not before hand. It is My decision - and yes a relationship of sorts, therefore the statement on dynamics. In regard to more than serving, this would be considered an outside "vanilla" relationship as well, he is in a position of authority in a branch of service and I am a business owner and active in community. I am not so daft as to believe that even in D's relationships with slaves - that ONLY MY thoughts on it count. We are grown ups and functioning in the vanilla world as well.

Wow...I am so disappointed as to the responses of people in general. I thought this was an open forum for advice. I am feeling condescended to and from people that do not even know me. Not liking that at all in an open forum. My pic is no differnt than many on this site and being a business person, a face picture is out of the question. Really disappointed in all the responses and condescending nature of it all.

I am also a business owner, and my face is not on the net anymore. Neither are my other parts. It's possible to present a dignified image without a sexual display. (no, I am not implying that sexuality is undomly)

Duh, what do you expect? What would you tell a guy who is already thinking about a prenupt, engagement and what not before he actually met the girl?

To be honest, I am really disappointed with people who ask very stupid questions but hey, I'll live, I guess you will manage to overcome your disappointment as well...

why don't you just sit back, stop deciding what the answers should be and how the relationship should go and just meet the guy.. just meet another person..not a slave.. just a guy...

Personally I would question the things he has told you, but I question everyone(rank that up to trust no one if you want) You said you can't speak to anyone that was there before. That is actually ok in my opinion because I don't base what I do on what someone did with someone else. But as far as the job, why he is moving, what he says he knows....are you sure? If you were asking is it a good idea to have a test period where you get to know him first in the real world than the answer is yes. Find out all the information that you can before you let someone into your world. As for contracts and protocol and all that....those are just bells and whistles. Like the lace on the bottom of a wedding dress. It may be pretty but it doesn't guarantee the marriage will stand the test of time.
