I was curious how others found out about CM. I know the most obvious answer is going to be Google, but there have to be some better stories than that. Myself, I was told to join by this wannabe Dom I was seeing, who though I should "educate" myself about the mysterious ways of BDSM. Joke was on him, I educated myself enough to know he needed to be kicked to the curb. What's your excuse?

I found this site thru a submissive that had been a long dstance friend (unfortunately just friend and LD) who told me about it.

I've unfortunately lost touch with her. I hope she has found her Sir.

the late Person told me about it because we weren't involved in the kink community here, but i wanted to talk to other kinky people. it was all new and exciting! =p
i was also on b.com, but found i liked CM better.

I was on another site. I saw the profile of an extremely gorgeous woman and saw that she considered herself owned by some strange dude that called himself a Marquis and had a link to his profile with some really funny photos of himself. On HIS profile he talked about this site. The name intrigued me as both of the women I had been involved with had brought some aspects of BDSM and power exchange stuff into the relationship dynamic. I entered Collarme.com and voila!

I wanted to add that I stayed because, at that point in my life, while my relationships had aspects of all of this, I knew no one else. It was a relief to be able to have discussions, to be able to ask questions. I completely understood the mindset behind the desire to be the D or M part of the relationship. It was the s-type part of the equation that I struggled to understand. I credit women like Bita, with really helping me see 'get it'.

I was on bondage dot com for several years. I became increasingly irritated by the removal of services to free members and started looking around. A couple of the people I chatted with on b.com mentioned collarme, and that was that!

I also joined a UK-specific site called informedconsent, mainly for info on local events, but fetlife has taken over that spot.

My former pet introduced Me to the site.  I actually kind of laughed at it (especially the title) when he showed it to Me at first, but I knew a number of folks in meatlife who posted on the forums back in those days, so I gave it a shot.  I've been here ever since.

I'd met a good man on alt, and after we broke up, I went back to the site to find it had changed, and of course, free services were decreased. An applicant sent me a msg asking if I was on CM, I checked it out, and have been on here ever since :-) having met several lovely men.
And yes, I do laugh when I get msgs from guys asking if I'm as nice as I sound, what am I doing on a site like this?! ;-) Holy double-standard, Batman!

I knew about CM years before I even checked it out. At the time I was a DJ for various online radio stations based on the bondage.com server of IRC.

It wasn't until one of the stations opened a chat room on CM that I checked out the site at all.

Since the main thing I liked about IRC bondage was the potential for entering into a good discussion, my gravitation to the message boards was quite natural.

My ex owner let it "slip" that he was here. He didn't want me to know about the site at first but then said Go for it when I asked about the discussion boards. I only came here to lurk but it seems I can't keep my mouth shut.

I found out about it after Yahoo started shutting down all the BDSM groups. Someone posted the link in the Yahoo group saying we are all moving to CM. So I moved in 2005

I had met my former Master on AFF. Not long after we met, I decided that I needed something more than what he could offer me & he suggested I look here. I've not met anyone here to whom I ended up submitting, but I've certainly made a whole passel of friends!! I started lurking on the boards in 2006 & started posting after a few months. That was under my old profile name. I've been here ever since. I like the people I meet on this side & the discussions that we have. If anything ever happens on the other side, I'll be shocked & amazed.

I was visiting a friend and using his computer. He had left his CM account up on the screen, so I checked it out, saw the forum, checked it out, and here I am, all these years later.....[:)]

I didn't get a computer until 1998, so I was a latecomer, and found the chat rooms sooooo fascinating, talking to people from all over the world, etc. Now looking back, it seems pretty juvenile, but I had a blast then. I still have a couple friends that I touch base with occasionally that I met in Yahoo chat. That heyday lasted about a year, and then Yahoo chat really went downhill. Went to MSN chat for about another year, then they wanted to charge.....then I spent a lot of time in Literotica chat....

No more of that, I live in the real world now, lol.

I have to admit I had my late nineties early two thousands.......moment of chat frenzy. I got online the very same year, 1998. I was completely fascinated!
