I see frequent mention here and elsewhere about how it's wrong to be judgemental. I think every person alive is judgemental. What's your opinion?

That is true.  Every person judges every thing and person that comes into their life according to their own personal set of views/morals on life.  If we were not judgemental, we would be constantly allowing things and people into our lives to hurt us in one form or another.

 I must agree with you on this . I also know that in this life style there is way to much of this going on .
 
But in the nilla world we as a whole do this in our every day life .

I would also have to agree that people are "judgemental" to some degree.  However, where the distinction has to be made is where people abuse the verse of the Bible that says "Judge not, lest ye be judged".  They try to twist this and manipulate this to mean that we can not say anything bad about anyone.  You especially see it in reference to homosexuality.

The TRUE intent of this verse is that you are not to condemn your neighbor to hell for their actions.  You are to let God do that.  However, we are told that we are to hold our brother accountable for their actions, and this is where your "judgement" comes in.

Two entirely separate and unique concepts.

I agree with this somewhat.
But I do think you can  be non-judgemental.
I may not like the things that others do,Does that mean I judge them as being a bad person...No.
I accept who they are and either get to know them or move on.

But isn't the very process of deciding you "don't like the things that others do" judging? And I'm assuming that you don't mean that you don't ever label someone as "bad".

I freely and proudly admit that I make judgements on people, both snap judgements and long thought-out ones.  Both are open to being changed at any given time by me.  I have no doubts that others do the same things towards me, but I could really care less what they think.  I'm me, through and through, and if they don't like it, tough shit.

Dear Level, Ladies and Gentlemen;
 
Everybody is judgmental.   There is no escape in being judgmental in every facet of our lives in every choice we make.
 
Although everyone is judgmental; the tolerances of such is the effect we judge as well.

I get spanked for being judgmental, now my dominant does not believe it is possible to spank this outta me, but it is a process and not a goal for us...BIG SMILES.

All kidding aside, yes we are all judgmental, it is a required skill for human survival...If you do not judge people and situations based on past experiences and your own moral compass you run risks to your health and wellbeing. The line between being overly judgmental and being cautious with our judgmentalness is a thin one

Dustyn summed it up best for me. I consider myself a judgemental person. I have been proven wrong on my judgements more than once. Sometimes that has been a good thing, sometimes not.

I don't see that as judgemental unless you add to that and it is wrong/. In determining I do not like something, I am not judging it on its goodness or badness, more that it is  not  something that will incorporate into my life.

Of course the discalimer for me is things such as abuse of a little one. I have some pretty firm judgements about those who inflict intentional, willful damage on another.

I admit that i'm judgemental.....but i try not to act on it in negative ways, and sometimes, i find if i educate myself a little more on whatever issue....my judgements are subject to change.

oh what a double edge sword this topic is.  of course generally speaking we all have our little quirks that are either acceptable on not acceptable of others, to us personally.  whether or not we allow our judgements to affect our diversity towards others is a whole other topic.  yes judgements can be selective and normal but when they are geared towards prejudices and generalizations towards others as a whole then it's time to rethink.

IMHO,

Not liking something what someone does isnt judging them,its realizing you dont share the same interests.

I dont eat Veal because of the treatment of the animal,do I judge someone who does again No.I accept that they like Veal.
Of course I may ay something like I cant believe you eat that,doesnt mean I like them as a person any less than I did before.

Yes,there are bad people out there,child molesters for one,do I judge them No...its not for Me to do.I realize they have a problem,maybe its their own fault maybe not.Still doesnt give Me the right to judge,unless I'm on a Jury.

Perhaps LadyHugs has the right answer,and I do judge and happen to have a high tolerence for acceptance of others.

Hey, I've had this attitude coming up on 31 years... I am getting too old to learn how to just roll over on command because someone decides they got a beef with me... Never backed down in my life, and be damned if I'm gonna start now that I'm starting to go grey... LOL

We may just have to agree to disagree, Sassy. I think we (or I) judge every day of our lives... I know I do. I judge in order to determine where people fit in my life, if at all, and so on.

Tolerance is often needed in life, for sure. Just because I don't want someone or something in my life does not mean I think it's bad or wrong, it's just not for me. But I still contend that's judging [;)].

Well, I am judgmental. I do think there is right and wrong in a lot of things and I'm not afraid to point it out to people. That means I make mistakes and have to eat crow sometimes, but that's ok. I have no problems admitting when I'm wrong. I don't eat a 'lot' of crow though because I have fairly sound judgment.

There are some things that I just think are wrong and just because I happen to like getting my ass beat or serve another doesn't mean that I'm any different in my ethics than anyone else. I take responsibility for them and they are consistent. I don't 'push' those on other people, but if they ask me, I'm going to tell them. Ok, sometimes I tell people without them asking but they can turn a deaf ear and not listen to me. Public boards are always fair game IMO and just like my standards and ethics can be questioned if I put them out there for public consumption, so can anyone else's.

We just had a thread where someone put out there that 99% of all women are whores .. to me that is ASKING to be judged an asshole, so I'm happy to oblige. You put out a thread about cheating on your spouse, you are asking to be judged a liar.

I don't see the big deal with judgments at all. They are almost always asked for by the person who's been judged.

Right now, you can consider that I'm asking to be judged a closed minded elitist.. and.. I'm ok with that label if that's what others gather from these words. I sure as hell won't piss, whine or moan if that's what they think, although I would probably answer with why I don't think that's true. I consider myself a very open minded elitist. That's an elf thing.. because Elves are sooooo much better than humans. [8D]
