You may have escaped the notice of the Admins before, but I'm willing to wager you're about to get more attention than you'd like.  I see [Awaiting Approval] in your future.

I don't think so.

Last time I checked I was not an Admin.

I don't care enough, nor am I affected enough, about 'fakes' to go vigilante.  Plus, I'm typically not targeted by such types.  That and I've been around the interweb block enough to spot obvious fakes.  I also listen to red flags and 'screen' people before meeting.

Yes, some people present older photos of themselves.  If I care enough, then I can ask for a recent picture, webcam, etc.

People have used my pictures to do some pretty odd stuff before... but I was the one that put it on the net.  I wasn't asking for or it, nor deserved it, but there are weird people out there.

Like I said in the beginning.  I'm not an Admin.  It's not my fight.  I've got more positive ways to spend my time.

TJ...if a person is representing themselves falsely, I couldn't care less providing the falsehood doesn't impact on another person.  That is a meaningless act of fraud.  So if a person....male or female....puts up a profile that says "18 year old, blonde, 28, 18, 26, loves to suck cock more than anything in the world except when she is eating pussy, into bondage, caging, and everything else...BUT I'M ONLY HERE FOR THE BOARDS"  who gives a fuck?  Right?

By the same token, someone runs a profile....a man, let's say.  He is posing as a woman.  He is offering dominance, love, possession, eroticism and more.  He carries this fraud on through a dozen e mails and then suckers someone into sending $20.00 to their paypal account before talking on the phone and then they vanish.  Do you think that is a good thing?  And do you think that warning about someone doing that is a bad thing?  Do you think that preying on someone's emotions in order to get a little cash is............fair?

Now...let's talk about fakes on this board.  You have heard the allegations of people being called sock puppets and the vitriol that allegation evokes either from the alleging party or the alleged.  So it isn't that being a fake is a "good thing"...right?  Why should people get pissed off at an alleged sock puppet and NOT GET PISSED OFF over someone falsely offering love to get money?

I don't understand.  Tell me your thoughts.

Deliberatly being a sock puppet and being caught at it is funny, come on.. people have to be able to laugh at themselves when they do themselves in.. no one did it to them, after all...

And, imo, its too much of a nanny state as it is, people have to use their own brains and be responsible for their own actions. Anyone asking for $ just to talk to you on the phone? really? do people fall for that? Imo, people should know better than to give $ to get love.. Hopefully they only fall for it once...

They probably only do fall for it once, but, in my opinion, pointing out to other members on the site that someone is engaged in that is a public service announcement.  What if the person was dangerous; they were abusive or did not honor safewords?  Is warning about that bad also?

We have a difference of opinion but when someone is trying to mislead people to their detriment, I see nothing wrong with pointing that out to the general public of this cite.

I do see your point. It makes sense. I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with it and accept that it's an annoying reality of this site... Or just leave.

KEEP OUTING THE FAKES!!!  You are doing a public service!  Look...there are men posing as women, wasting your time.  There are women posing as women other than who they are (personal experience talking here....50 year old woman posing as 30 year old woman looking for a sub for a LTR), there are people posing as whatever to lure the unsuspecting, forlorn and desperate to pay to PayPal or log onto NightFlirt or whatever.  The fact of the matter is that the fakes are either using up your time or attempting to scam or just trying to bump up the population of the site for obvious reasons.  All of it, operates against your interests.  What did Ben Franklin say about Time?

Dost thou value life?
Then do not waste time
for that is the stuff of which life is made.

Oh get off it, I recently had a long conversation with girls who have been jerked around like crazy by "subs", they want verification through NiteFirt. It doesn't cost a thing, in fact if you sign up you get free minutes, then the girl can send you free minutes too. The reason WHY they do that is because it's too damned easy to get a new Skype ID, a new mobile number or a new CM ID, with NF you have to verify that you are over 18 by giving a credit card number, most people don't have unlimited credit cards, plus should really be something happening, it's easier to trace the person.

Me, I take the easy way, I don't go out of my way to meet somebody, you can jump through a bunch of hoops and be somewhere where it's easy to meet you in a neutral place, a munch or so - guess how many guys don't want to do that, funny, if they are so honest, how come they don't want to meet at a munch?

I haven't gotten that far into NiteFlirt but when it asks for a credit card number, I'm generally done with it.  I shouldn't have to give those details out especially when I'm giving a cell phone number and can verify my identity beyond all doubt with an e mail address.  I have no problem meeting at munches.  I have met a few Dommes from CM who are from NY in the lobby of the Algonquin hotel--a very public place.

And you can ditch a cell phone and buy a new one and play that game over and over again, and you can get as many emails as you want on the net, getting a new credit card is a bit harder, especially when you just want to mess with somebody. Women get as much burned as guys. One of the reasons why I really don't go out of my way to meet anybody, it has to suit me because there are enough time wasters.

Hmmmmmmmmm...well...maybe I will try NiteFlirt since you put so much stock in it.  My email address relates right back to my office and to directory assistance; which is why I don't go out of my way to offer to meet many people at all.  Although I don't really like the site and I prefer CM, I find that meeting people through the fetish events listed on one of the completing sites is easier.

That is life, it can happen with someone you met at work, someone that stops to help fix your flat tire, or you met at a seminar or could be a neighbour or relative... Whenever you meet anyone, even someone than you might know fairly well, you put yourself at risk.. That is what date or acquaintance rape is about, trusting someone that wasnt trustworthy and used your trust in them against you.. and if what they did was a crime, then they should be reported to the police.. If you papered the nieghbourhood and were naming someone with claims you could not actually prove, it would be you that would be in trouble and possibly sued, correct?

I don't put much stock into it, but a few women explained why they do and it makes sense, not even sure if it works in the UK.

As email address relating back to your office, I wouldn't do that, a bit risky. Honestly, if you are interested in meeting somebody who says they want you to verify through NF, just ask them to send you free minutes, if verification is all they have in mind, it should not be a problem.

To be honest, I am always surprised how many people are shy to go to BDSM or fetish events...

Well....I like papering the neighborhood.  A friend on Long Island put a huge sign on their front yard that said that the neighbors next door were selling heroine.  And I mean a BIG sign.  It had the desired effect; the people that rented the house moved.

But we are talking about something much less extreme.  I don't think that telling the CM population that someone operating under a nick (which is obviously not their name) is fake or misleading or scamming for money and then having certain facts that tend to support those allegations is a bad thing.  I just don't.
