Status: offline 		Hanky code, earring and keys worn on the right...all come from the gay community.  I don't believe there is a stardard for this is the het BDSM world.  It might work at play parties and other social events, but identifying yourself to people on the street would probably not produce any results.
 
I remember seeing a piece of jewelry (a pendant) signifying one's involvement in the BDSM community, but it never seemed to catch on.
 
I once thought of wearing a handcuff on one wrist, but I figued that the police might see me as a fugitive and I'd be arrested on the spot.  *LOL*

maybe certain special interest groups would take offense to that......

personally i wear a plain, thick, black leather bracelet on my right wrist.....as my own personal symbol of submission........but im the only one who knows it......maybe if someone would take the time to ask.............

That's a good idea, there are plenty of websites that sell that type of jewelry. Generally, if someone recognizes the symbol you'll get a knowing nod, and those that don't will, at the most, comment on how unusual it looks. And since you aren't one to wear rings, perhaps you could find a tie tack?

Status: offline 		the hanky code and keys are primarily gay leather symbols.  Yes many of the 'Old Guard' ideas have watered down into mainstream D/s.  Asking is a good thing.  Wearing a label on your forehead that states sub or slave might help  LOL    I've seen some wearing wrist bands with sub/slave printed on them.  Even a necklace that states the same.  

When in doubt ask.  But I do love the "kneel at my feet" idea  LOL

There are also the lapel pins with the bondage circle or a flag design.Most Gay and Lesbian shops usually also carry things related to BDSM.
While they dont advertise your available they do let O/others in the Lifestyle know.

Well, the Greeks branded slaves with a delta (Δ, for Δουλος doulos "slave"). So you could have a Δ branded or tattooed on you to show that you're a slave. There are other symbols, too.

Status: offline 		I asked something like this a while ago concerning BDSM symbols.  The triskel has been adopted as such a symbol.  Depending on color (gold, silver, etc) and hand on which it is worn, it identifies the wearer as dom, sub, etc.  Google around a bit.

Status: offline 		To keep it simple, I like the idea of a subtle piece of jewelry or charm that signals to those in the know that you are a sub or at least into the lifestyle. That would invite a conversation and the opportunity to reveal your interests.

The answers here have been quite comprehensive. The responses are so vast, I would not remember them anyway. I believe it is best conveyed by his mannerisms and how he treats a woman, whether she is a Domme and actively in the lifestyle or not. A Domme or a woman with dominant tendencies will likely pick up on it. My pet often makes jokes about his subservience to women. If he draws a strange look from anyone, he can always play it off by saying "just kidding!" But the woman who responds favorably to the comment has potential.

It works the other way too. In the past, I have taken dates to a popular leather store, gone inside and watched their reaction to the goodies inside.

Status: offline 		I've often wished there was something i could adorn that those in the know would recognize.   The triskellion is something that other kinkyfolk would recognize but it doesn't give any indication regarding sub or dom.  (Not to mention that i find it horribly ugly)

The Story of O ring  http://www.showoffyourstuff.com/StoryOfOring.htm  is something that you'll find all kinds of styles, even some masculine ones.  It definately denotes submission, although some Male Doms say that ring needs to be earned, and to just arbitrarily wear one is wrong.   (putting on my i couldn't care less face)

I've also heard many times that the right side of the body denotes submissive, so perhaps a nice Story of O ring on the right hand would make things pretty clear.

Maybe if we start a trend, it'll stick.
