punisher440 -> In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 7:34:18 AM)

I was just wondering how many of you out there have received raises like these in the last year? I realize some may have been bumped up a position higher but look at the % hikes. And exactly why do we need a Director of African-American media? Do they have one for Whites,Hispanics or Asians? I also wonder did the Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy advise the President that it might not be a good idea to raise his salary 83% in these economic times.

Maybe not so much?

How dare you ask THIS White House to justify anything HE does.

Owner59 -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 7:40:55 AM)

Let`s see, I`ll go with typical-republican-response # 11.

Response # 11 : "It you want the best talent, you have to pay for them."

That was easy.

punisher440 -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 7:57:56 AM)

Yes,I read the complete write up and I did state some may have been bumped to higher positions. But does that justify the % increases? Also from the same piece
quote:

But almost half of the raises doled out by the White House in the last year—59, or 40% of all raises—weren't accompanied by new job descriptions. One of them—special assistant and associate counsel to the president Michael Gottlieb's 14% pay bump from $114,000 to $130,500—was a clear violation of Obama's freeze on salaries over $100,000.
.And yes,I read where he left in 2010 but returned in 2011 to the SAME position.Did you see a salary increase like this over the last year?

Best talent at what?

Writing budget proposals? No... havent seen a single one yet. Leading Congressional Dems? No... Writing health care reform laws that stand up to constitutional scrutiny? No... Creating workable compromises? No... Kick starting the economy? No... Shutting GITMO down ? No... Ending the Iraq liberation effort? No... Keeping us out of a new war in Libya? No...  Toning down the hateful, divisive  rhetoric emanating from the White House after the Gabby Giffords shooting? No... Securing the Mexican border? No... Enforcing the nations laws? No...  Maintaining a Department Of Justice thats equally fair to all? No...

Backing up Obamas flowery rhetoric with action? Nada.

Vacation planning? That must be it!

Keeping neocons whining and useless (not that it takes alot of effort) but I believe the republicans havent done much of anything else lately.........looking at the bills in the house........

pahunkboy -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 8:20:16 AM)

OP:

I agree.  They turn around and say there is no inflation-- and then inflate their pay.  HELLO!??

Lucylastic -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 8:21:54 AM)

Then post the other side too if you want to be taken seriously.

19 out of 21 were bumped to a higher position and pay grade, that means only TWO were not, thats not "some" thats practically all, or mostly ALL not "some"do you know which two? do your research....

If Im going up a paygrade, it has to do with a whole new responsibility, a new job description. Its a personal promotion, not a wage increase on the title of the job

If the job titles wages were increased that much yes I would see cause for whineage.

please show the link for the info for gottleib.

Did you miss where the WH budget went down a million??

What were the job titles worth before? if you could have proven that, I might be more liable to agree with you, as it is...not so much, I question your motives.
Welcome to P&R, but a word to the wise, if you are going to present something as fact, know that there are more people like me who will question your "facts", we arent all sheeple ready to just take something at face value.

"Best Talent" is *extremely* relative.
After all it's the "best talent" that's gotten us $14 trillion in debt.
And, the "best talent" never seems to be held accountable do they?

The Brits burned down the white house!    Is there no end?

Lucylastic -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 8:32:31 AM)

not to your madness apparently

punisher440 -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 10:01:31 AM)

This looks more like typical Chicago/ Il. politics to me.I sure would like a pay freeze like these got.I am very sure most of these jobs could be done away with or the position filled by someone willing to work for a lot less and still be able to do the job.I guess not everyone can be a Special Assistant to the President and Director of Message Planning...like what is this persons job, typing the Presidents speeches on the teleprompter?

Lucylastic -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 10:05:07 AM)

opinions arent facts, why dont you look into the facts rather than just make un knowledgeable suppositions?

he sounds like he has a case of sour grapes to me, Lucy.

tazzygirl -> RE: In these times, how can the White House justify this? (8/23/2011 10:32:16 AM)

He is 53 years old.... how new can he be?  [8D]
