Ok, here's one I hope is fun for the Ladies.  I've already asked a couple of friends about this on the other side, but I'm curious what the larger crowd will say...

To make a long story short, I recently received an invitation to accompany a lovely Lady to a high-profile Fetish event, as an acquaintance (she already has a personal sub).  So I did some legwork and found out the club where this was happening and they have a very strict dress code -- either formal wear, full uniform, leather, latex, vinyl ONLY.  NO exceptions.  Well, I do own a tux, but somehow that didn't seem right, so I found myself shopping for fetish wear and I realized...

I don't know anything about fetish wear.

All kinds of questions ran thru my mind...  Are there trends in fetish wear?  What's in this year?  How do you size it?  What sort of shoes do you wear with vinyl shorts?  If you've got a little bit of pudge, is a mesh shirt really a smart fashion choice?  Will those leather pants make my ass look flat?  Can you mix latex and vinyl?  You get the idea.

So Ladies...  May I humbly ask for your assistance?  For you -- what defines the well-dressed male kinkster?  Price no object...  What would you want your pet to wear, or what would really grab your eye at either a formal high-profile fetish ball or, if that's not your scene, how about a more relaxed play party, say with a group of friends from the local munch.

Now, some people will say..you wear whatever your Domina says you'll wear, which makes it easy... But...what if you're single?  Or what if you're just going as an acquaintance and the person inviting you expects you to take care of this decision yourself?

Advice, links, pictures, descriptions, accessories, shoes, fetish wear do's & dont's... anything that turns you on.

When I saw this title,  Well-Dressed Male Sub ,  I thought that well dressed subs were being given away, so I was going to volunteer to take one.
I'll think on this a minute about how people were dressed at the masquerade ball and get back to yah.   M

my only piece of advice is this - black leather pants and brown suede shoes should not be worn together.

LOL... I'll second that.  In fact if you don't know a good time to wear brown swede shoes, just stick with black leather, since it's almost impossible to go wrong with them.

As for what I saw boys wearing at the Ball:  All black, or see through shirt with a skirt & stockings with nice black shoes, plain black jeans with leather vest...  Tux I didn't see, but I may have seen a navy suit.   I've no idea what you should wear come to think of it, because I would simply want my man well dressed with a nice pair of dark pants, nice shirt, black leather shoes, and a blazer, of leather pants, leather shoes, nice shirt...  How about asking the lady what people generally wear, or what she would like you to wear?  She's the domina, should have some idea how she wants you to show up in my opinion.   M

If you're looking for something "basic", a good pair of black leather pants is a great staple.  Very versatile with anything from a t shirt to a medieval puffy shirt;   you would want to wear black shoes or preferably, boots (think Docs), with them.

I actually don't much care for fetishwear, but a man in leather pants that suit him?  Mmmmm.

pollux, I agree with the above, and just want to add that as the escort at a fetish event, it strikes me that you do not want to stand out or outshine your lady.

Since you may be viewing this as a chance to put yourself out there (and who could blame you?) you will do yourself a favor by appearing quietly sexy and tasteful. I know that if I were there checking out the males, I would go for someone dressed as Ms. SM described, rather than someone wildly fetishy or flamboyant.

oh, and the mesh over the pudge? definitely a no go!!

good luck, have fun

Hello pollux.
Think in layers.
First, a G-string, black made from whatever you enjoy, this is in case you have opportunity to show it off.
Second, black pants. Either good dress pants or leather as suggested, remember that leather will stretch, so go smaller rather than larger and it will mould to your bum.
Then a mesh or net top, singlet or t-shirt style..goes with the G or pants, loose the belly..
Then a shirt..default black or white looks good, make it a spiffy one, like described before.
I know I notice shoes, something with silver bits is nice.
A good leather jacket is handy.

That way if you dont know what to wear and what kind of event it is, or even the chance of play etc..you will be ready.
Most folk keep a 'toy bag', so you can keep your special things in there like a leather buckled upper body harness, collar and lead (if needed), and a special bits and pieces to add to what you might strip down too.
Generally at social events..default all back is the formal wear, and for subs down to what I said was under 'respectable' clothes, but you might think on mainly tops like rubber and pvc added when you have had time to look around at others.
In time think on how to dress to express your enjoyment..CBT a codpiece, nipple torment a very open net singlet .. draw attention to what you want to express.
Most of all have fun with it all..

ohh gawd pollux, do NOT go to the vinyl shorts---I can't take the visuals----here are My recommendations ( and what I happen to think are very hot):

Black is always in no matter what.

Tux with black turtle neck or mesh shirt and jacket--very cool ( and no socks please)

Black jeans, tux jacket and open necked tux shirt--VERY sexy and very hot.

Leather pants NEVER make an ass look too flat--and if fitted well they show off one's uhm jewels nicely--that combined with a leather jacket and mesh shirt is very hot.

At the end of the day, a black shirt or turtleneck with nice black pants will also work.

And if that left ear is pierced, add a nice size loop--

G'morning all:

pollux, I'm something of a fetish clothes horse, so to give you the proper advice, I need some idea of the event itself. Aside from the fact it's a formal fetish affair, it's being held at a club. Will there be play involved after/during/before the event? What's your comfort level? Do  you perspire a lot? Your time frame for preparations? I noticed you specified that the budget is no object. Are you willing to go custom? Are you adventurous in regards to types of materials? Not just leather, mesh, pvc, etc. I'd never insist that you outshine your Lady friend, but you do want to do her proud. You want to stand head and shoulders above the rest of fish swimming in that pond. Let me know.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

How far away is this event?

High quality fetish wear requires fitting and making -- Fox's two catsuits took a few months.

If you don't have that much time, ask around your community to see what fetishwear places have good reps. You'll want to frequent stores that provide good service, excellent products and support the community (at least in my opinion) so that you encourage their sales over fly-by-night and money-making-only businesses.

As for what you should wear, here are my suggestions.

Get things that show off your assets but still to basics in terms of color and accesories so you can use them more often.

Get things things that are "comfortable" by this I mean things that won't make you hyperaware of them so you can focus on mingling and escorting -- guys who are wiggling around so that butt plug insert will rub the right places are sending a message that they are more important than anything else if they are single (if your partner puts it in, its no one else's business).

Layer. This allows you to become more comfortable as time goes on and also makes it easier for you to scene should an oppertunity arise. Leather/latex/vinyl underpants, other pants on top, mesh t-shirt under jacket or vest, that sort of thing. You may strip off when you get to warm or when asked, you can put on when you cool down or the air conditioner spasms up. If you mingling you may be eating and drinking so layers make it easier to use the bathroom too.

Flag your role. I suggest keys or leather pride rings or a handy in the appropriate pocket/side and not a collar. Collar are often seen as signs of a relationship and if you are single do you really want to suggest you are in a relationship all ready?

Bella -- the event is actually the annual FetishFactory ball in Ft. Lauderdale... The question is a bit moot now because a schedule conflict came up a couple of days ago and now I probably won't be able to go.  But I was in a real bind there -- before I knew there was a potential conflict I had about 3 or 4 weeks notice, so I'm not sure anything custom would've worked out.

Honestly I wasn't seeking personal advice for me with this thread so much as I was hoping to just get some idea of what dominant women think is hot & stylish, so I won't be caught so flat-footed next time.  There's a monthly event down there and things going on here in Orlando, and I just realized I was almost totally ignorant of what's involved in putting something together.

To answer the other questions:

Play: yes, there will be play involved, but I don't think I would've participated (still too shy)
Perspiration:  mm, about average I guess.  That's usually not a big problem for me.
Custom: interesting idea...yes, possibly.  I've got a little time now, so that's definitely a possibility.

And as far as outshining the lady I'd be accompanying ....  that would be pretty much an impossibility, but I understand what everyone is saying in that regard -- you don't want to be too flamboyant, and you want to reflect well on her.  Totally down with that.  Maybe not outshine (she's pretty spectacular)...but one could certainly look foolish or make her feel embarassed for herself or me, and that is EXACTLY what I'd want to avoid.

Hence, this thread.

Hmmmm... am I the only person who has a problem, on several levels, with there being this type of dress code at a lifestyle event?

It's about 3 & a half hours from my home, but I would've been in the area for a long weekend, so...I dunno, maybe a half hour to an hour from where I would've been staying.  I would've probably just packed all of the fetish wear and changed into it just before leaving to go out (if that's what you were thinking).

And thanks for the rest of your post...lots of very, very good stuff there.

This is not a lifestyle event per se...

The FF & XFP parties are just that... FETISH. The more over the top the guests are the better. This is even asked of you when filling out a profile on their list.

These are not high protocol events. The traditional "don't touch unless you have permission" rule is in effect.

The dress code is enforced because the host wishes to add to the ambiance of the evening. Jeans & t-shirts are for Hooters.

I have attended events such as this... typically a stand & pose crowd but the energy is great. The crowd tends to divide to their own groups. I have not attended either of these parties in a couple of years, but it was my understanding that single men were not permitted... couples/groups & invite only.

When I last attended I found it difficult to interact at first. I did do a scene with a group of friends & then everyone was pretty much tripping over themselves to come over & say hi.

As for a single male mingling & being a bit shy... this party isn't going to be a place to get yourself noticed.

I'm sure you will have fun. This party is far from boring. I have several invites at this time but my work schedule prevents me from being able to attend anything at this time.

Have fun!

My advice to a sub would be to wear something they feel good in as they will tend to give off more positive vibes than someone who is wearing something they feel uncomfortable in.

A tux can be a great outfit for a first do for someone unsure.... besides the fact that most men look good in them there is the fact that they can be done at a more reasonable cost and then when they get a look at some of the fetish gear worn to the events the sub might get more of an idea for what look they'd feel comfie with before investing money into it.

On a personal level, leather and pvc trousers can look good but its hard to beat chaps on a guy with a nice butt.
