It is true that the media's jumping on the bandwagon of stomping Clinton and fueling every bit of it was indeed the ratcheting up of things there.

Funny, how Reagan's selling of guns to Iran less than a year after release of the US embassy hostages and the importing of cocaine to fund a congressionally prohibited venture in Nicaragua and then the media being complicit in what was essentially a sucker punch from the State dept. to Iraq regarding Kuwait all seemed to avoid the true wrath of the nation. But ohh, some personal and non-nation-threatening personal affairs come into it, and the flood gates open.

Which neatly covered the Clinton crowd's letting the bankers in the door at the time.

As much as I would like to get all paranoid and worked up I just can't. I spend too much time learning history. Pick up a newspaper from the early 1860's and read some of the paranoid freaking out that was done then. We survived it. We will continue to survive. Things change, they always will. Our planet, the life forces on it, everything. Nothing is really truly stagnant. That terrifies the hell out of most people.

Fear is the basis for all the spewage and drama. When I see some of the mouth foaming posting on here, all I see is scared individuals. Reminds me of that creepy little character in Lord of the Rings, Gollum, Lashing out in fear.

Well I wonder, Tigress, if any of that has to do with the media's incessant harping on everything as disaster, even before real disaster strikes, and headlines of doom! and while taking a break from that finding more reasons for fear! in every nook and cranny.

Oil price going down is bad news, because it indicates the economy is not recovering. Doom. Oil price going up is bad news because it will destroy the economy.

Doomed if you do, doomed if you don't; that is our beloved media.

Of course the media shares responsibility but the greater responsibility is the consumer. We have the choice to not 'buy' what they are selling. We buy it, they will keep pumping it out there.

I see crazy bitches like Nancy Grace, Limbaugh and the like, and know that our media/news, has turned into a warped version of reality television. Both sides have their culprits. If it isn't exciting and dramatic enough, they just yell louder with a more insane look in their eyes and create the drama. Twisting shit around to the point it doesn't even resemble reality. We are addicted to the crazy shit. It's like a never ending soap opera.

Tell Alexander Hamilton that things are more partisan now.

I dont think much is different other than having greater visibility into the inner workings of DC.

Where I disagree with Steven most is on compromising, IMO the only compromise the D's are willing to make are "do it our way, and we'll throw you a little bone in return"... It's nowhere near an actual, "I'll take this off the board if you agree to do that" compromising we saw in the past.

And finally, something has to be do on Lobbying. It was a good idea, which grew to nasty, uncontrollable proportions. Unfortunately Congress is full of money grubbing Lawyers, and so are the Lobbying firms... and they'll protect each other, despite the people's wishes.
