I actually never have, and I'm not sure why. I feel like I'm an offensive enough guy, I do my best, but somehow I never manage to piss women off badly enough that they feel the need to get physical.

Modern feminism....I take issue with the idea of "We want to stand on equal ground" when it really isn 't equal ground. We want equal pay for equal work...but you can't make jokes or look at our boobs. We want our jobs...but we want paid leave if we get knocked up.Umm why? They don't pay men for having kids, and before anyones says it I am a parent and I went back to work two days after my son, who had to stay in the hospital was born. I got little to no sleep. No one offered to pay me to stay and worry. No one offered to even let his dad have time off to visit. And don't start the men don't give birth thing either, because yes I know that too. I also know if they did they would have to make plans for things like babies...women should too.

I have never slapped anyone, and I think I would be more likely to take a swing instead. But I would think about it carefully before I did, and I would hit him with my best shot, because if I can't finish it, I would be afraid that he would.

lobodomslavery -> RE: Is it ok to slap a guy (9/1/2011 1:22:19 AM)

my exact sentiments. Women should not start fights because SOME day SOME man will finish it and it wont be painless for the Woman, same goes for weak guys against strong Women etc , if a guy started a fight on a strong Woman chances are it wont end nicely for him, it wont be painless for him

lobodomslavery -> RE: Is it ok to slap a guy (9/1/2011 1:27:33 AM)

And before you ask neither should strong guys initiate fights either against Women because it is just WRONG, it means might is right, and that is just wrong, it is a form of abuse

I was always told if you hit like a bloke you deserve to get smacked like a bloke

Men can get leave as well. 12 weeks, unpaid unless you have vacation and sick time... but the ability is there, with the same job assurance as women have.

Family and Medical Leave Act

You are right, tazzy, they can. But the sad fact is most won't ask. And many are aware that there are a large number of "bosses" that will find a reason to fire them later if they do. It's not right that anyone should have to put up with something like that, but it happens and few can fight it.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Is it ok to slap a guy (9/1/2011 8:18:55 AM)

The Family Medical leave act only applies to certain government entities and businesses with 50 or more employees.

Not sure what I am missing out on here.

Being the skinny runt that I am, almost half my girlfriends have been within five pounds of my weight.

I never felt any inclination towards striking them, even the two of them who displayed violence towards me.

Being close to someone can occasionally involve serious emotional meltdowns by either party, no question. But the thought or vision of me striking them, even if they hit me repeatedly, just isn't in the genes here. Just can't do it.

I take the Hill or DYB approach. In instance of the first GF I had that tried to hit me, I held her wrists. She said "let me go!," so I did. When the next fist was two inches from my face, I grabbed her wrists again. It all worked out, we laughed about it later, etc.

With the other GF, I went more towards the DYB solution, somewhat. I turned around and she punched me really hard in the back a few times before I turned around and stopped her, but I knew better than to laugh at her. Again, we got over it.

I was glad to be rid of the both of them, eventually, but there was far more to be rid of than the occasional hitting. The usual train wreck stuff. The folly of youth, etc.

I don't quite understand the attempt at equating of issues here. It can't be done. Men and women are different in far more ways than mere physique.

Thank you HLH. Your post is a compelling example of why violence is not the solution to violence, never has been nor never will be.
i disagree. when i am the fucker who walks away i'd say that is pretty much the right solution. maybe your aim in a violent confrontation is to get the crap kicked out of you, but that's not mine.

... ahem ...

- With exception of the occasional spanking that she might actively seek service of by various means -

Forgot to mention that.

No it is not OK to slap anybody, nor is being slapped a valid reason to do so in return.Violence is never the correct response unless somebody's life or physical well being is being directly threatened, and even then the absolute minimum of violence or physical force should be employed.

That is the funniest freaking thing I have ever read.

Right, I am being wailed upon or stabbed, but I'll just call out to the assailant;

"hey, could you quit smashing my face or desist stabbing me in the gut for just a minute here? I have to consult my 'minimum violence response' handbook, be right with you there."

MileHighM -> RE: Is it ok to slap a guy (9/2/2011 8:16:40 AM)

Ultimately, who the hell is rational in a violent altercation. The law (in many states) gives people a wide latitude when defending themselves. The reason being, when you are attacked and switched into survival mode, all your morals, personal philosophy, and restraint go right out the window. Then, you do whatever the hell it takes to get safe, even if that means croaking your assailant.

Eh?  Arpig pretty much articulated the law re self defence as it stands in most of the western world - that based on the idea of 'minimum necessary force'.  I agree with it, too.  A slap from a woman isn't going to be a real danger to me.  Even if she's in a rage and throws a flurry of punches at me, I don't need to punch her back to stop her.  If she appears really to want to harm me, and also appears to have the strength and/or skill to do so, that's an entirely different matter.  (The 'appears' in that is also crucial.)

Not really, cause stating 'minimum' is really fucking vague. Usually they use the term 'necessary.' In other words, you can use whatever force is necessary. If a woman slaps you and you shoot her, that would be considered and unneccessary amount of force to diffuse the situation and your ass would be jailed. If your life is threatened (like someone whips a knife on you), in many cases a necessary amount of force may include lethal force, and it would be considered self-defense.

Minimum is mealy mouth BS, too vague and open to interpretation. It conjures up the thought that you can't use force at all. Even necessary is vague, but it gives you the impression you can defend yourself.
