Powell is more acceptable to leftists NOW but they called him every name in their racist handbook before, when he was still viewed as a loyal Bush cabinet member

Back up your bullshit.

The only criticism of Powell was his buying into the Bush administration lies about Iraq.

There were never any racist remarks.

So why don't you, for once, prove your nonsense.

I thought the chimp had written himself and his organ grinder a no strings pardon before leaving office?

It surprised almost everyone but Bush did not issue the blanket pardons everyone expected. That's why there is such consternation that Holder didn't pursue some of the clearly illegal stuff (torture, CIA domestic spying etc.).

Moonhead -> RE: Can a Conservative Explain this? - Dick Cheney (9/3/2011 6:33:53 AM)

Seen, Ken. My bad: I thought he had done that.

Of course, you haven't provided any evidence that the facts and overt acts I've enumerated aren't sufficient to support the claim of fraud.

Ah... Being Right... Does anything else taste this sweet?

How would you know?

The problem with your enumerated vomitious (which I guess to you tastes sweet) in any way proves that their was KNOWLEDGE contrary to what was said, and that KNOWLEDGE is required before anything is a "lie" or "fraud".

Frivolous allegations don't wash, legally or intellectually, not that you would actually subject yourself to an honest intellectual discussion.

Frivolous allegations?

Everything he posted has been well-substantiated by many sources.

Just like the Democrats, the Republicans are not a hegemony. There is always lots of in fighting. As much as either liberal or conservative media would LOVE to have you believe about "the other side" (like, Hillary supporters using the N-word about Obama back in 08).

Cheney is his own brand of conservative. His stances (his PERSONAL stances) would seem to lump him in the category of "absorbing the Southern Democrats was a big mistake" (though to my knowledge he has never directly said as much).

As much as people want to believe Cheney was the dark puppetmaster, he carried A LOT of water for W. during his two terms. One example: Cheney believes in individual states determining the course of gay marriage, and is personally in favor of it. But when W was pushing that amendment junk, Cheney was right out there with the rest of them, campaigning for the president, because that is his JOB as VP.

That's another thing, we have a serious problem separating people and their jobs in this country. This is just his chance to let out a lot of steam, and we already know from multiple sources the Bush and Cheney camps didn't get along very well in the White House, especially the further you got from the center of power.

You do realize you are contradicting yourself.

With Democrats you have open disagreements and a divided party.

There is infighting among Republicans, but as you said, Cheney was out there promoting something contrary to his beliefs.

It's something I can't explain but the GOP marches in lockstep.

And just to add, how do you respect someone who doesn't have the courage to support his own beliefs?

Discrimination comes in many forms and what you saw in that hospital room was just one example of it. Its a story that is seen throughout all our lives in the community. you are right that many want to be "ghetto" without actually ever having stepped a foot in one. The vast majority of our people have never had one foot in cabrini or watts. But, I'd say everyone in that room knew the facts that there is no 'oreo". There is a society that you have to live and work in that has a set of rules. Whether you like those rules or not is immaterial. Its how the game is played. If you want to succeed you play that game. If not, you won't succeed. The point for our people is that this is the same set of rules for us as any kid from appalachia or one from east la or jersey. You gotta lose the rough edges and put on some shine or you aren't going to make it. Its that part that we lose sight of. Or in other words class envy knows no color. From Puff Daddy to Beyonce to Kobe Bryant that is true. They know that they had to have that shine and have it. I mean spike went to morehouse and graduated nyu......he is a nerd not nobody's dawg....

Will it change?  I don't know I wish it was. I wish Black Folk with lighter skin and darker skin wouldn't look at each other the way they do. All we can do is take care of ourselves and try to make better.

You know, YBD, this is probably the best thing I've seen you post.  On this, or any other subject.

Where has this young man been hiding all this time?

Firm

It's nice to see someone speak the truth that you want to hear. Personal accountability, right?

I am not sure when the last time the experiment was done, but "black sounding" names on a resume receive a 50% less chance of getting called in for an interview than an "identical" resume sporting a "white sounding" name.

It doesn't mean that it's impossible it just means that you have to try harder.

It's not fair, but little in life is.

As to hannah? She is a racist that thinks she isn't cause she is lesbian which immunes her from such labels in her mind.....And meant those words in a completely different context.

Let me ask something DYB, don't you think phrases like "our people" promote racism?

I mean you are qualifying things based on race yourself.

People are people.

It's not our people and those other people.

That said, I remember Powell saying in an interview that he wouldn't run against Bush and that he'd wait his turn. His turn will never materialize thanks to his speech before the UN.

He actually could do alot more good for the country as a sane, grounded, educated, non-spotlight stealing version of Palin.  You don't need to be president for the media to chase you around inhaling your bus exhaust.

Too bad hes not a conservative, then he could REALLY do some good for the country.

So the short answer to the op is that you have no clue.
You did know that he rated off a covert cia operative...but then he is of the same party as you so it is ok to commit treason

Surely this post deserves an award - for humour, gall, irony or something ....

So, it gives me great pleasure to nominate Willbur for the CM Pot Kettle Black Award for 2011. Willbur's exceptional effort above, as well as his consistently absurd posts on a wide range of topics make him a runaway winner. Despite some intense competition at times, Willbur's contributions are invariably in a class of their own.

Congratulations Willbur. Possibly the singular achievement of your year! Keep up the good work! [:D]

Given your penchant to support your anti-Semitic views with acknowledged racist sources you might want to STFU.

Tsk! Willbur! Language! Lies! Manners!

I'm glad to see that you haven't let your nomination go to your head and are keeping to your usual standards when inventing and submitting posts.

However, might I suggest a little more subtlety and a little less bombast? Egotism and bombast is such a bad look! I'm sure you'd be as appalled as me if people were to get the impression that your posts were the product of a violently deranged deluded paranoid selfish egotistical mind occupying a fantasy world of its own invention.

I'd be so disappointed if you were to be remembered for anything other than your heroic efforts as a medivac in 'Nam -surely your finest hour!

I guess you couldnt find a marsupial to do you today, eh? You might want to google "STFU" and take my advice. Youre as tedious and pointless as always. (Except when youre defending terrorists, then youre quite pointed, just wrong.)

Dear oh dear Willbur, subtlety is what's required of you!

I should have realised you'd have difficulty with the concept. Anyways to clarify things for you here's the Oxford Dictionary definition:
subtle
adjective (subtler, subtlest)
1 (especially of a change or distinction) so delicate or precise as to be difficult to analyse or describe:
his language expresses rich and subtle meanings
(of a mixture or effect) delicately complex and understated:
subtle lighting
capable of making fine distinctions:
a subtle mind
arranged in an ingenious and elaborate way:
the German plan was simple yet subtle
2 making use of clever and indirect methods to achieve something

Of course all the bolded bits are foreign alien concepts to you but please try to do your best!
