A jobs speech?
Surely the first thing Oblunder will address is getting us out of any and all "free-trade" deals him having a "162 i.q".,.....right?
Or is this going to be a cheer leading speech for spending even more money that we don't have?
You can't spend your way out of poverty.

I anticipate that we'll all get along surprisingly well.

Hell, I suspect I'll even have a drink or two or a joke or two with DomKen.

Could be, Obama is getting ready to bow to the NFL as well

In agreeing Wednesday to reschedule his planned address to a joint session of Congress, President Obama might have placated House Speaker John Boehner at the expense of the nation's football fans.

Boehner, R-Ohio, balked at the president's original request to appear before Congress to discuss the nation's chronic unemployment problem on Wednesday, Sept. 7. That's the same day as a Republican presidential debate in Simi Valley, Calif.

Obama agreed to move his speech to Thursday, Sept. 8, which happens to coincide with the opening game of the NFL regular season, a prime time contest between the New Orleans Saints and the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers from Lambeau Field.

The game will be televised by NBC at 8:30 p.m. ET.

"We’re aware of the situation and are communicating with the NFL," an NBC spokesman told ProFootballTalk.com. The Associated Press reported that White House officials were working on the precise timing of the speech in hopes of avoiding a conflict.

Strictly speaking?
***I suppose you could say that tens of millions of jobs have,.....emigrated...to those foreign countries from the U.S.
Look at all those "American in name only" corporations in China.
And look at that disaster called "NAFTA"; we started losing jobs to that almost immediately!***

Since FTAs dont cost jobs why would he want to get out of them?

Telling the american public they have to wait to see what happens next while they are still unemployed.

Boehner delayed the speech a day, Tazzy.  President Obama is the one who decided it could wait until after his vacation with the millionaires and billionaires on Martha's Vineyard...

I'm sure the Speaker's office knew damn well that Thursday night was the pro football season opener, when they suggested earliest possible new date, but I'm not nearly so convinced that Obama's inner circle is still that in touch with mainstream American life.

Let's not forget either, that the first spurt in this pissing contest was when the White House decided to upstage the Republican debate.  Now he just gets to offer a rebuttal, and it's going to be interesting to watch how the timing is handled by NBC and the NFL.

OK, LET'S DO IT BEFORE THE GAME

erieangel -> RE: No, that doesn't work for us. (9/1/2011 8:31:20 PM)

You can't be serious. Obama spent his "vacation" working on the speech and the bill. The ideas are there, but the speech isn't complete yet.

Erie, there are people on this this board who've been talking to me for years, and still can't quite put their finger on that.  [;)]

And yes.  I know the ideas are already there.  They will be same ideas that have been failing since he took office.
