I think some of My confusion over the OP is due to lack of caffeine.

From what I'm getting in the ramble of an original is that there seems to be some issue with Dominant women.  This was the beginning of My confusion because the OP mentions the Dommes in his area and some odd thing about what is written in journals.  Personally, I find this rather odd.  As a Dominant person Myself, I've honestly never found a good reason to cruise the profiles of other Dominants in the first place, much less invest My time in reading their journals.  That makes about as much sense to Me, being a straight chick, cruising the profiles of lesbian women.  For all that's written in the OP about his going on about being what he labels himself in the post, I'm not buying it.

The other bit of confusion comes in when he talks of Dommes in his area.  Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of lifestyle Dominants that he actually knew.  That part is just a little too much keyboard commando for Me to even get into without a sufficient about of diet pepsi ingested to even bother commenting on.  Maybe the OP needs a little balance in his perception by getting out from behind the keyboard and actually meeting some Dominant women at a local munch so he can get some additional data to draw a more well rounded conclusion.

Idk Endivious, I was thinking maybe this tuxedo cake: http://www.food.com/recipe/the-real-black-tie-mousse-cake-by-olive-garden-392181  although it is extremely time consuming and somewhat messy.

It's a pure mousse cake, wich will be extremely rich. Certainly a fine looking choice. If you want a hybrid recipe let me now. Otherwise, GL, and shoot us some pics so we can see the final product.

????? If you consider actual contact between humans and watching an image of such to basically be the same thing, you have beautifully illustrated what is wrong with contemporary culture. Wonderful job.

For those to whom it is nothing but sex or sensation perhaps paying is just pathetic and none of my business, but I do think sex and sexual activity should probably not be made a commodity as there is invariably some 'thing' that is occuring on a level central to our humanity.

Sex IS a commodity. You are looking at pornography in the context of the customer and missing the connection all together. Someone PAYS two people to have sex and film it. Someone PAYS a prostitute for sex. It does not matter what the director does with his video after, he paid two people for sex, instead of paying one person for it. Moreover, there are times when the guy doing the banging IS the director. I don't know what they call that, virtual porn or whatever, it's the same thing. Thus the argument, and the connection, debunking your rediculous statements earlier.

Well, I can't help but want to hear what she has to say!

Yet, being a realist... delivering diet Pepsi to Alaska could be a challenge for me. Darn it!

Yes, I do.  It will educate him one way or the other.  He'll either a) learn that other people have ways of doing things that are different than his or b) he'll get put in his place the first time he decides to repeatedly call women whores.  Either of which benefits the general populace of the boards.

First OP, before posting, take some time to get your thoughts in order. Your post reads like stream of conciousness from a boy who sees some appealing candy he would like to taste but knows he cannot afford.

Secondly, lima beans and olives both suck.

Third, I like white cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles.

(and kittens) (but not to eat)

Hi Littlewonder! Did you know that I can't stand lima beans?
I mean really, who the heck wants to eat one of those nasty green things.
They have alot of nerve showing up in my produce aisle, thinking someone would actually eat them!

HEY!! Lima beans are awesome!! now, why someone would want to spend their money and ingest OLIVES, I just don't get...
sheesh.

Greedy, black olives are the best!  I can sit and eat a whole can/jar full in one sitting.....and the kids always put them on their fingers and eat them one at a time.  (And I lurves lima beans too!  Poor misunderstood veggie!)

Green olives....not so much.....hate the taste!

Who is picketing? I am just interested in the cultural phenomena being reflected here and the large number of people who find so little objection about market exchanges for sex, intimacy or emotion.

As I once said about lobbying and frequenting prostitutes, they both involve paying for something you should be able to talk yourself into on the merits.

And this is why I hate to go to sleep at night sometimes!

Patrick,
I get what you are saying - some things are sacred, they are what make us human.  Belittling those things, putting a monetary value on them devalues them.  I get that, and frankly I agree.  For me, prostitution is not one of those things.  For you, it is.

When I was in university I wrote a paper in one of my classes about how similar psychotherapy is to prostitution.

We give our affection / unconditional positive regard to another person.
It is an intimate interaction.
It is a one way relationship in which the other person's needs are the focus.
It is time sensitive.
There is a money exchange.
Touch is in very specified ways.  (Prostitutes often have rules about touching kissing for example - just as therapists have rules about touching)
There is a specific place that it takes place, and not in public.
People are sometimes ashamed to use the service.
Some people are unable to integrate any other human contact.

As you can see, I've thought this through.

I was just speaking last night about what people do when they are starving, when they are desperate (the john for sex, the prostitute for money).  It is not really my place to judge someone's actions in that way.  I've been desperate enough in my life a time or two that I've done things that I would not have if I hadn't needed something on a basic level.

It's easy to judge others when one is gazing down from a higher level on Maslow's hierarchical mountain.

best,
sunshine
