Since I'm not sure if this thing is still being closed at a particular time, I wanted to get in quickly that I very much liked both Lin's and Sunny's posts. I also agree with leaving Politics and Religion. Not only because those topics would go back to Off Topic like they used to and make it something of a quagmire, but I know that for some folks, that is primarily where they post and it's become their own little home for them.
However, along with the decision of 'more lenient' moderation, I think the Wild, Wild West atmosphere in that section has led to some of that spilling to other boards. I think it has caused confusion because personal attacks seem to be ok there and supposedly they aren't on other boards. (Not that I honestly believe for a second that is the atmosphere that we have now, because is certainly isn't, and frankly, that part sucks.)
If I'm getting this right (according to VAA's statement above that not all bells and whistles that folks would like to be added will be) should a 'new to BDSM' forum be added, there will be three standards of how people can treat each other around the place, depending on what forum they are on? Best of luck with that. Considering most people don't read guidelines for sections now, I foresee a heck of a lot of gold notes having to be sent to explain the difference and a lot of confused posters.
I do want to thank VAA for the opportunity to make suggestions and for the chance to say what I personally think needs to be tuned up. For the most part, I felt there were intelligent ideas going, even if I didn't care for some of them.
