ORIGINAL: Owner59 More than half...... That`s the kind of job creation Perry has in mind for all of America. That`s not going to turn anyone`s economy around. "According to the Texas Workforce Commission, 51 percent of all Texas workers make less than $33,000 a year. Only 30 percent make more than $50,000 a year. Nationally, Texas ranked 34th in median household income from 2007 to 2009" http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2011/09/07/general-us-debate-fact-check_8664319.html oh, I am sure Perry is pushing hard for the Keystone pipeline to be built and that would transport 500,000 barrels of oil from Alberta (thats in Canada for those that dont know and its also thanks to NAFTA & free trade) to texas and Louisiana refineries for processing (which should be done in Alberta btw). So there will be the jobs from building the pipeline and jobs at the refineries, as well as jobs trucking the refined products to the other markets, etc, etc. Those would not be low paying jobs either. According to exxon, the potential is for lots of new jobs. You take projects like that, you take a govt that helps rather than hinders business and businesspeople will expand existing businesses and start new ones. It wont all happen overnight but it wont happen at all if there isnt a govt that listens to business and helps to encourage investment for the long haul. Perry already has the reputation of creating a business friendly climate and creating jobs.. especially in this horrible economy and business & job losses that plagues most other states. I seem to recall there are a few posters from Texas on here.. I dont seem to recall them bitching about what Perry has done, the kinds of jobs created, the general climate for people and business there...
