The 2010 census figures show that Texas was the fastest growing state in the nation over the last decade, gaining 4,293,741 new residents, a 9.7 % increase. I guess it can't be so bad there after all....

i believe about 1/3 of all the new jobs in the US are in Texas too so they gotta be doing something very seriously right. lol

Yup,making crap jobs that won`t support a growing middle class or growing families or a mortgage.

If we cut everyone`s pay in half and hired someone else with the other half, according to con-logic,we could double employment overnight.

See how that works?[:D]

Doesn`t even require reality......[8|]

yeah, you're right, having no job is much better. [sm=rofl.gif]

Due to lower housing and cost of living, wages in texas go a whole heck futher there than in other places, oh.. like CA where the unemployment rate there is about double the national rate (its even worse in CA if you consider those that have given up looking for a job or are under-employed).. Its so bad in CA that they have had to cut back on education, etc.. Gee, what is better- permanently unemployed in expensive CA or employed for less with lower costs in TX? At least in TX people have a chance to work into better paying jobs as their company grows..

Right? There`s nothing like a race to the bottom.

You want anything on your hamburger, mister?

TJ... What you said!!!! such a dumbarse thing to claim, typical tho...now if he was talking about a liveable wage job, that would be different
people seem to forget the "untouchables"(low paid workers) have families and shelter needs, just as much as anyone who is worthy.

The minimum wage rate in TX is $7.25 which is what most states have as theirs also. $7.25 in TX goes a lot further than $8.25 in CA, especially since there arent a lot of new jobs there in the first place. Some states dont even have minimum wage rates.

How do you expect a politician to create high wage jobs out of thin air?

Buttlover2 -> RE: 51% of Texans make McDonalds level wages. (9/9/2011 10:19:04 AM)

.....and u havent figured out that this is the whole point of the GOP agenda?? Drive all our wages down to the same as India & China

Really, if u gave the GOP the chance, the next great depression would of happend before 2008 and had have us all peddling apples on the corner for a nickle. Mc Donalds would be executive level wages... look how they fight every job creating idea, but keep pushing tax cuts that even now has not created ONE job in TEN YEARS...

Mitt actually said we have to find a way to be competitive with China.

A Texas/GOP style economy would do just that.

Win-win............or was that lose-lose.....

First of your link is a blog, not a reputable source. Second my post is to conflict with partisan obfuscation.. Wages are alway relative to the cost of living the the cost of goods and services inyour area. If you have ever taken a job with the gov't and been transfered, they will readjust your wages based on where you live. That was my point against using that ranking of 34th.. it needs to be normalized versus cost of living, which it is not.

I know the the tax cuts won't work. But where is Keynes? not working either. Every D plan out there is like a band-aid on gun shot wound. The problem with partisans, right or left, is that they never consider that they could both be wrong. They assume they are right because they have a different idea than the other side. If the other side's plan isn't working, we must be right....WRONG. The R's got us in to this mess, The D's had one year of unobstructed time to get us out and they dicked around on health care, Obama has had 2 years to be a leader and figure a solution, he hasn't.

Meanwhile, all we hear is the same old crap from both sides. They love to stick to their guns. After 4 years of recession and jobless recovery, when will the average american partisan wake up and realize the they are circle jerking each other with a bunch of bad ideas.

you never answered my question- how do you expect a politician to create high wage jobs out of thin air?

Lucylastic -> RE: 51% of Texans make McDonalds level wages. (9/9/2011 11:42:59 AM)

they dont..Ive been told politicians and the govmnt have no place in creating jobs, they have to let the companies get tax cuts and the jobs just "trickle down".[8|]
and again, have a battery, because I was agreeing with you in that post...

Every state has low wage jobs, but that is usually where young people start, for their first job/s.. it gives them job experience and hopefully they are living at home so they can save much of what they earn, perhaps to go on to college, etc. So many kids now cant find an entry level job, and they need that too.

I would not want to be a politican, thats all i can say... I think any politician would do whatever was possible to help create high wage jobs if they could.

Lucylastic -> RE: 51% of Texans make McDonalds level wages. (9/9/2011 12:06:17 PM)

having three young adults as kids, I know just how much they need jobs, I have one in uni and one in college, one working.
yet, strangely, more and more FAMILIES are working minimum wage and not much more... and struggling, not only with lack of income, but the ability to get out of their situation.
Im well aware of the issues, and problems, however, my POINT was that these people are being treated as only just above the level of scum and welfare mums. They work hard, they put up with all kinds of shit and yet... are regarded as unworthy and lesser members of society
Sorry that escaped you

t

Too bad that is EXACTLY the Maxine Waters/liberal logic, not conservative logic. Take money from the working (there is no difference between a tax and a cut in pay) and give it to others to spend. And you dont even get work out of it.

Not even a nice try. Who the hell is Maxine Waters ?

But we've been told to cut business taxes to create jobs because after all, businesses don't pay taxes...customers pay taxes.

Logic then dictates we cut all wages because not only have we've been told that something called 'wage inflation' causes real inflation, [sic] businesses don't pay wages...customers do.

Due to lower housing and cost of living, wages in texas go a whole heck futher there than in other places, oh.. like CA where the unemployment rate there is about double the national rate (its even worse in CA if you consider those that have given up looking for a job or are under-employed).. Oh yes, you are absolutely correct, slaves had jobs and didn't they tell you...they were very happy. VERY seriously right you say ?

Texas (Perry) has more then tripled state debt in about 10 years and the borrowing continues and to do what...build infrastructure ? Oh what genius.

Let's put him in the white house and see if he can be a better hypocrite than Mitt will need to be with his RomneyCare. It amazes me no end the intellectual energy wasted and the malleable policies and truths in just how people go about doing things they themselves tell us...others should never do.

I never said anyone was happy, everyone wants to make more than they do.

Ok, Einstein, if you were a politician what would you do to create high paying jobs?

eta- the subject was about jobs, not debt.
