I'm the opposite of you Iamsemisweet. The only social media I have is Twitter. I use it more for following than for posting, although I did posting and interacting with others back when there was a threat of a tsunami hitting the islands. Sometimes there are tweets that offer good information. For example, a local vegetarian grocery store was offering free cooking classes and when they tweeted about a particular class, I was able to attend it. I likely would have missed it had I not seen it on Twitter, even though their web site lists the classes. I just don't visit their web site that often. Why visit a multitude of web sites when you can get key bits all on Twitter? Another one I follow offers "positive inspiration" posts, as well as quotes. So, for me, it offers a quick means of viewing interesting information, and sometimes funny commentary. I like to read all of the tweets for those I follow, so I keep the number of people I follow to a minimum. Some celebrity types use it to forward their agenda in terms of selling a product. I quit following two well known fitness trainers because of it. As for what it allows me to do that I can't do on Facebook? I have no idea since I've never used Facebook. Since I didn't register with my real name and provided an e-mail address I seldom use, I also find it's a good place to blow off steam and bitch about work and other minor things. ;)
