I don't play casually so it's not even a concern of mine to run away or not and by the time I play like that in a relationship we've already established that I trust him so again not a concern. If we're playing and something doesn't feel right I tell him and then he decides whether to adjust it next time or not. My advice to you...don't play with someone until you've established either a relationship or you know that person better or if you're going to just play with anonymous casual play, then simply don't play with them again if you don't like the way they play.

Why do grown ups ask questions like this? If you are hurt or feel something is wrong, speak up. If you are pushed into sub space from this "horrible" pain, perhaps it is not all that horrible, no? I know that if something hit me wrong, not only do I let someone know that minute, but I don't go into subspace over it.

When I first started reading this with the title "Hit and Miss" I was thinking to myself: How can you miss the sub who is tied down? Ridiculous thread. Since it is the first I have seen I am a little dismayed but it can only go up from here.

Loved your posts here, Michael, totally spot on. Like others have said, floggers are a wonderful therapeutic massage. I was just telling the Mister that the other day. I dared him to actually try to cause serious pain with one...heh. My ex had a heavy rubber flogger like Michael described, and would hit me hard with it. I loved it - It left some (but not many) marks and it was very heavy, but still one of my favorites. I also have a knotted flogger which leaves perfectly round bruises all over, and it does have a big "ow factor" but I don't fear injury with that, either. The only OMFG flogger I've felt is one with beads positioned about every 3 inches down the tails. It hurts like a mother, but is not threatening of injury. Quite honestly, my back and spine are my favorite places to be flogged. It's quite the treat. Maybe the newbie was just not educated on how safe floggers actually are, and got scared?

Nueva, You aren't a big participant in the public kink scene so you aren't aware of any of this. Smaller scenes/communities tend to get run by people with less experience and "safety" becomes a higher priority or at least a bigger buggaboo. Many smaller playspaces make a big deal out of flogging spines, kidneys, etc. It becomes part of the mythology and online in chat rooms, it is even more blown out of proportion. So small town Dungeon Monitors make it a big deal but if you go to grown up dungeons like the Lair in Los Angeles you will see shit that will make you flinch. I still remember a scene with sparks flying because the top was using a high speed grinder on the steel helmet his bottom was wearing while she held a can of gasoline and later he fired up an electric chain saw. Not my thing, too over the top and showy but still its not the sort of thing one sees in smaller local playspaces. But yeah, floggers are pretty damn safe unless you do really really stupid shit with them that any six year old would say "that seems like running with scissors" to me...
