I know it probably sounds incredibly snippy, but your use of the word "dominate" rather than "dominant" really is a big big red flag for me. It's hardly inspiring to encounter someone who appears to have confused the verb for the noun (and for the grammarians, I'm aware that "dominant" is also an adjective and is more commonly used as such). Put it this way, I'd never hire someone who described him or herself as a "plumbing engineering" rather than a "pumbing engineer". It just doesn't inspire confidence. But, pedantry aside.... I have some sympathy for Awareness' point of view - there are certainly some (pretty crucial) aspects to Dominance that just can't be taught. As others have said - there are LOADS of ways to pick up skills in specific techniques (lots of events run workshops on flogging/ropework etc etc). That said, having someone you can natter to (which you can think of as "natural mentoring") is always useful. I'm not a big fan of online mentoring or mentoring via correspondence though -I think you just need to make a friend who is dominant - consider going to munches, or engaging with one of the many really sorted D types here and have a conversation with that person from time to time!
