I don't think it's uncommon for people to tie in self-worth or their self-image with their sexuality. Often times when you go against the grain of what popular media and culture tell us is 'normal' or 'desirable' you get that 'am I a nutty freak?' feeling. Just go to a different culture and hang with the other nutty freaks, and you feel less out of place. I don't think anyone should base their worth on their gender or their sexual inclinations, your self confidence is built off your successes in life, and you can be successful while being different or submissive or purple or whatever. You might consider also though, some women don't want to be involved in power exchange or seen as superior, they just want normal interaction of an equal human being. Try to keep that in mind too. Feeling inferior and feeling submissive are two different things to my mind, being submissive is good, having self-wirth issues is generally bad.
