Shove off, O59.  You're only attempt at a contribution to the subject of the thread only proved that even the Wikipedia synopsis of the book was too much for you to grasp.  Ministry of Fear ...  What a maroon.

Just how "green" are you, anyway?  The picture with your last little note on the other side was of a off-road vehicle, out polluting nature's majesty.  Why do you hate the children so much?  My utility bills, cooling a home in the desert in July, were less than $100, due to the energy efficiency upgrades in my home, and the environmentally friendly lifestyle we live.  What were your utility bills?  Care to wager the difference, on the bills for August?

All you have to offer is hate, and your two minutes are up.

What about tea-party "youth camps"?

Sounds kinda creepy.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/education/k12/tea-party-group-offers-summer-camp/1175119

Radio talk show host Glenn Beck criticized the notion of summer political camps for kids like the one in Norway where 68 people were killed last week, even though he has promoted similar camps in the U.S. where children are taught tea party principles.

Yeah, well, let's all be very thankful that Kazcynski thought small, huh?  I've (personally) known a lot of militant ideologues who weren't ever going to accomplish squat on the left, but I rarely label incompetence as a virtue.

If they're trying to kill innocent people, I don't care which side they are on. Incompetence is a virtue.

TheHeretic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 9:06:20 PM)

A blessing, certainly, but no, not a virtue.

Lucylastic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 9:09:24 PM)

How about you do a search for environmentalist killers and I will look for religious righteous killers, say over the last 40 years.. Ill even stick to US killers...
Ill also give you another one to start with
Ira Einhorn
Id rather have incompetence than death
sorry , thats just the way I roll.

Was Timothy McVeigh a religious type? Or just a secular run-of-the-mill looney Right winger?

Lucylastic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 9:33:41 PM)

rightie weirdo, still counts...

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 9:40:46 PM)

~FR~ Hmmmm...even though you said that you didn't want this to become a partisan subject, Rich, you seem to be eager to debate it as such. Although actually, I'm not really seeing much debate anymore on the original subject. Seems to have devolved into calling each other right-wing & left-wing weirdos. So much for an intelligent debate. *Shuffles sadly out the door.*

I wonder if Ken would be willing to pull the trigger on him?

Linnaea, every time I try to walk away, they pull me back in  [;)]

I was sorta hoping somebody with a good understanding of cloud technology, and internet worm programs would explain that it really wasn't possible, but threads go where they go.  Where we've come to, I'm about to go as well.

Lucylastic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 9:48:43 PM)

maybe you should be a bit clearer then Rich, I didnt see clouds or worms being mentioned.....

however, I am not going to carry it on Linnnea..Ive no interest in debating it further.

TheHeretic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 10:50:02 PM)

From the first post, Lucy;

do you think this aspect of Orwell's nightmare vision might soon become possible?  Forget the pneumatic tubes and printing presses, substitute "he completed his upload, and pressed 'submit' to send the corrective cloud crawler program on its way."

Ok.  I called it a crawler, instead of a worm.  I make no claims to be being a techie.

not that you or anyone else of your ilk really give a flying fuck but the building was blown from the inside out.

If people in the US had an education they could look at the pic and come to the correct conclusion rather than sucking authority dick.

Lucylastic -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/12/2011 11:12:58 PM)

ok, then thats where I completely misunderstood..cloud crawler, IM thinking angels, not computing, ...social networking is horrendous, but not going away, and finding people thru social networking is giving more than big brother a chance to do nasty things to you, about you your habits, your proclivities, and gives creepy uncle stan the chance to find out who your best loooking friends are, where you live, what your house looks like, the people in your neighbourhood.. I could get more graphic but I know you get it. and gawd knows there are enough reasons to worry about your general safety without all the stalkers and crazies getting the knowledge to find you..

When it boils down to it, the government (any government) are looking far less a problem than the users of the internet. AM I going to let it bother me? Hell no, as I said before, Ive felt BB looking over my shoulder for many years, and I wont be intimidated by the bad side of the interwebs because the positives for ME personally are far greater.
I keep my important stuff off my connected puter, not so much for the official nosies, but the hacking stalking asshole nosies so they cant affect my more private stuff, should they decide to attack.
Im allergic to trust regarding internet/computer privacy....you have to cover your arse, but if it gets to the point where you let it control you, unplug the damn thing and try a nintendo DS
by the way thats a generic you. and YMMV:) Gnite my friend!

I see inevitable attempt by the governments to restrain alternative media coming soon. It is getting too powerful. The government-controlled mainstream media is in trouble. Suppression of the unpleasant information becomes increasingly difficult. How they will try it is a guess. I expect some kind of "cyber 9/11" type approach.

Tell me Fellow, which government controlled mainstream media sources are you referring to?

Termyn8or -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/13/2011 6:34:42 PM)

"Was Timothy McVeigh a religious type? Or just a secular run-of-the-mill looney Right winger?"

Unfortunately neither.

Termyn8or -> RE: 1984: Do we have the technology for "truth?" (9/13/2011 6:38:46 PM)

"Tell me Fellow, which government controlled mainstream media sources are you referring to?"

They are all controlled. Have a look at the rules pertaining to holding an FCC license. Sure, they can pick on one policitian or even party, or another but that's it. Read carefully and you will see why they NEVER critcize the government as a whole. They would lose their license.

How could you not know that ?

T^T
