Not exactly. Richard Millhouse Nixon employed U.S. Intelligence Agencies (one of whom is prohibited prior to 911 to do so) to spy on us citizens who either opposed him politically, anti-war activists, and even catholic priests.
While an individual not real concerned with reality might surmise this is just a manifestation consider this:
H.R. Haldeman - White House Chief of Staff - Convicted of Obstruction Of Justice in US District - Served 18 month in a federal correctional facility Also among his credits was the Conceptual Creation of the Fox News Network.
John Dean - White House Chief Counsel - Architect of the Watergate cover-up, turned state's evidence, fired by Nixon, revealed the Nixon Enemies List- Also did a stretch for Obstruction Of Justice but got a walk and only did about a year.
Chuck Colson - Special Counsel to Richard Nixon 1969-73. Ran the Watergate Plumbers. Did 7 Months for Obstruction got off easy by finding god and becoming a prison minister.
E. Howard Hunt - besides of course having made death bed confessions of complicity in the JFK Assassination, was the central figure in a small but secret group of CIA Operatives (though their 'status' with the agency was unclear)

Howard scored big on time in the joint 33 months... got out and disappeared basically from any further scrutiny like a true spook
G.Gordon Liddy - Evil On Two Legs - White House Plumber - Engineered the break-in at the DNC Headquarters @ the Watergate Hotel. Five of hs guys were caught red handed inside DNC Headquarters. Handled the break-in of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office. Suspected of a plethora of other deeds. Used to create scenarios for dealing with 'enemies of the administration' for John Mitchell (Atty General, unclear how many were acted upon). Liddy was convicted of conspiracy, burglary and illegal wiretapping - Served from Janmuary 1973 to september 1977, his sentence commuted by Jimmy Carter.
Gordon went on to participate in colorful college campus debates with Timothy Leary and Abby Hoffman. He now hosts a raving fringe lunatic rightwing radio talk show (lucky us)
John Mitchell - played a covert role in trying to sabotage the paris peace talks - US Attorney General once Nixon took office (On special unprecedented request to J. Edgar Hoover, the customary background check was not conducted). Obstructed Justice in the matter of Fugative Robert Vesco Financier and criminal who chaired Nixon's election funding. Mitchel was convicted of Obstruction, Conspiracy, and I think wiretapping. Did 19 months in the brig at an Alabama AFB.

The cherry on this Sundae? Richard Nixon was days away from potentially being placed under arrest PRIOR to impeachment by special prosecutor Archibald Cox.
This whole series of events is a good deal more than a paranoid president leaving office cause he had the heebie jeebies Dude, this was the darkest hour.
