How is this different from drudge`s "tip" line?

Drudge is an internet journalist looking for information about others to publish. AttackWatch is a paranoid little whiner who can't stand it that someone doesnt "love him" so badly that he has to have his handlers crawl around for anyone who doesnt.

You can't blame the state of the economy wholly on Obama. Bush started the downward spiral. And the economy in this country is influenced by factors outside the country as well. You can't have an economy that would thrive in an isolated bubble, while the rest of the world is in a downward spiral. In today's markets, it's just not possible.

It is possible to deal with the global market, it just requires businessmen who know what the fuck they are doing. And Bush staved off the downward spiral created by the Dems as long as he could. Get your history straight.

What about this? It doesn't read like a "downward spiral created by the Dems", as you put it.

(Edited for clarity.)

If you would like to learn the history behind the housing/mortgage crisis that precipitated the "downward spiral" and understand why it was (largely) caused by the Dems, read this. $12.99 Kindle Edition, an easy read.

Awwww...so put upon......someone call the whahhhhhhhhmbulance.... [sm=river.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=river.gif]

What are cons saying that`s so aweful, that they feel un-able to say it in public?

It`s their words....their property.

Why are THEY feeling stifled by THEIR own words?

This is more than cowardly and lame. This is fucking rediculous as well as un-explainable.

Gosh. I think you must be an angry person. I mean. Why so snarky? Anyhow. "Bothered to learn"? I am familiar with what happened with the housing and mortgage crisis. The whole thing started when Bush was president.

Edited to add:

George W. Bush, that is.

To be fair there's plenty of blame from both sides in the whole thing...each side trying to pin it on the other is unfair.

Personally I blame greedy people. Seriously! If greed didn't exist, we wouldn't have the economy we have right now. :)

Capitalism and free enterprise aren`t the problems. Those are natural human behaviors and aren`t bad.

It`s predatory capitalism that`s so harmful.Unregulated,un-checked,unethical capitalism is what got us to this point.

All we have to do is reinstate the post depression-era rules and regs and inforce them.

The economy will eventually recover but for god`s sake we can`t ever let the bush-era rules and regs of having no rules and regulations, be in place again.

No, not angry in the least, though a bit annoyed with the double standards of a few here today. You might note that I edited my response to you, though apparently not quickly enough and I apologize for the snark.

But honestly, if you think that it started when GWB was President you may think youre familiar with it, but it goes back way before then. Even wrt to GWB's Administration's role, you might note the composition of the House and Senate from 2007 on...when the downward spiral finally took hold. If you want an intellectually honest discussion that you come to on a reasonably informed basis, I again suggest the book in my last post.

Acting in ones own self-interest (which some call derisively call "greed") is the only possible foundation for a successful economy.

Perhaps you define greed as capitalism and free enterprise. I don't happen to agree with that sentiment. It's well known that people who clearly couldn't afford mortgages were being led to believe they could.

As for the economy recovering? I can't see into the future so I wouldn't make such a prediction. It's quite possible things may never improve to a substantial degree.

I appreciate the apology. :)

And yes, I do believe I'm familiar with it. Knowledgeable and expert? No.

I might consider the book you linked. However, I'm a huge book slut. I have put myself on a book-buying moratorium until I've read most, if not all of the unread books I own. It's going to be a while. :\

I disagree. An economy can be successful while acting in concert with the interests of the public at large.

And what I would loosely define as greed is exploitation of others solely for financial gain. Others may have different definitions.

And those other definitions are wrong I tell ya, just wrong, wrong, wrong, 'cause I'm always right! :D

For those of you taking the previous sentence seriously. I suggest you inject some ha ha's in your life. *grin*

Sorry, I dont buy it. If someone doesnt know their own finances well enough to know what they can afford they are too dumb to own a house. One woman wanted to sue her mortgage broker because she took all of the equity out of her house to put down a $200,000 deposit on a $1 million Vegas condo. She lost it all. Her income? $15 an hour.

Well, I agree with you but the point being - it happened. Heck, in 2004, I can remember being told by a realtor (whose wife just happened to be a mortgage broker) that I should speak with his wife...that she could get me financing...gave me her card. I didn't follow through, primarily because I knew my financial status at the time precluded me from being a home owner. I have no doubt there were others who bought into the idea, both literally and figuratively. At the time interest rates were low, but getting an adjustable mortgage turned into a disaster. I can't imagine that ever being a good idea.

Well there's a cheerful, optimistic thought, Devia.  From Hope and Change to hopeless and despairing.  Now I see at the bottom of your post that your definition of "greed" requires an exploitation element, so maybe your definition of "never" includes some similar caveat, but taken at face value, I have to call your statement I snipped a load of pessimistic crapola.  (If you are retired, and living between a fixed income and your life savings, maybe.  Inflation is going to beat the fuck out those folks, when the tide turns.)

We have some obstacles to deal with, and wounds that need to heal.  Unfortunately (IMNSHO) the government's efforts to intercede have been counter-productive to unleashing the healing powers of individual initiative, and the profit motivation.  Let's say, just for example, that instead of the auto bailout money going to the companies that were failing, the same money had gone into loan guarantees for smaller concerns to come in and buy up the pieces.  Let's say that a company like Peterbilt had the opportunity to pick up the GM Truck division, and slap their badge on the nose.  Create a product people really want (and a hell of a lot of people would want a Peterbilt pick-up), they are going to get creative, and find a way to make it happen.  We certainly wouldn't need to be offering big tax credits to try and get them off the showroom floors, either, as is happening with that electric Chevy.

The spirit of innovation and desire to do better for ourselves and our families are very much part of the American character, and that is what drives growth.  It may depressed, by moods such as yours, and repressed, by burdensome regulation and an abundance of caution about more of those, but it isn't dead.

A couple bad loans didn`t take down the strongest economy in world history, sparky.

Trillions and trillions of our dollars put at risk through credit default swaps and other shady deals, by bank executives, brought down the house.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_default_swap

Deals and activities that until bush came to office, weren`t legal.

One honest republican explains what happened.
