Okay, first off the two officers reprimanded were found to be negligent in the performance of their duties....one for actually being absent, for period of time, from the command center.I assume this was not a ROE issue...as they were officially reprimanded.

Yes I understand that they were reprimanded...(from my time in the service I also know that shit flows down hill and payday is on the 1st and the 15th). I only have bits and pieces I can find on the net. From the 60 minutes transcript of what sgt. meyer said the lt. had called for artillery support and was told that his position was too close to some non-combatants and that the fire support was prohibited by the roe. I am not trying to argue with you here, rather, I am relying on you for relevent data which I do not have.
thanx.

Not figuring this as an attempt to argue at all Thompson...just trying to answer. As I said one officer was actually not at his post during a critical period of time...I'm assuming on the other that though firing shells at the villiage would have been a roe issue....some other support should have by rights been made available....hard to tell from the 60 minutes piece.

I think hillwilliam explained the discrepancy in the citations quite nicely....yeah they both went in there and an RPG would have taken both out....but the driver had at least some protection,by virtue of being in the truck, whereas Sgt.Meyer was pretty exposed in the gunners position...that and leaving the truck to pull wounded Afghanis in......add to that my understanding that Sgt Meyer was the driving force in disobeying the orders in the first place.
That is how I see it ...for what that is worth.

I do not know what the gun truck looks like but from my experience in the military the gunner usually has armour to protect him while he is "at work". Can we find any pics on the net to see what that puppy looks like?
What I have read so far says that meyer was a cpl and rodriguez-chavez the driver was a s/sgt. Typicaly cpls. do not tell s/sgts what to do. I can, however, imagine the conversation between the two of them was more on the order of who was the better driver, who was the better gunner and who would be best able to retrieve the wounded. Meyer, from his pictures, is a pretty sturdy guy who looks like he could bench press a buick. That may have been a consideration but I doubt anyone except those involved will ever know all the nuance.

Okay, let us grant all you have postulated......Meyer was still the guy running out and dragging the wounded and dead onto that truck.....for my money that alone explains the difference in the decorations awarded....again only my opinion.
One more thing though,in the defense Dept computer recreation Meyer's avatar was exposed from the chest up as the truck made it's multiple transit of the shooting gallery.I certainly do not mean to split hairs here and to in anyway denigrate the actions or risks run by the winner of a Navy Cross.....which really isn't chopped liver ...not in the least

So using an actual statement such as George W. Bush's statement on Harriet Miers about how we conservatives feel about proof when asked about proof isnt debating. Someone needs to read Debating for Dummies: How to follow a debate.

You have already excused yourself from debate or discussion when you told us that your opinion and feelings were all that counted and that facts were not important to you.

I excused myself because opinions and feeling were all that counted? Well those did help us bring Democracy to Iraq, taking out Saddam, and started this whole "war on terrorism." It was the key decision in nominating Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. But then with all the good our feelings have done. Well it doesnt count for anything.

Not an attack. Just pointing out verifiable facts.

How's that BDSM mansion full of women making lesbian porn to pay your expenses coming along?

So what does my person wants of having BDSM mansion full of women who do lesbian porn have anything to do with having a secret muslim anti-american kenyan born president awarding a medal to a true american soldier? Wait it doesnt. AKA a Personal Attack, the mark of a person who lost a debate.

Both show that you watch too much niche porn and Right fringe media instead of getting out of your apartment and seeing what the big bright world is all about.
Both show that your touch with reality is tenuous. Get out and meet people for fucks sake. They aren't going to come to you.

You still arnt debating me on a secret muslim anti-american kenyan born president awarding a medal to a true american soldier. And still taking personal shots at me. Keep going your going hurt your own feeling soon.

yup this isnt a debate because in a debate you would expect a retort or response to the topic of secret muslim anti-american kenyan born president awarding a medal to a true american soldier but then there was none made.

I'm not debating that because there are maybe 100 people in the US that don't believe that Obama was born in the US. You're either one of them and stupid or you're just being a troll and not worthy of an answer (Im tending toward the latter).
Go back and read the Constitution. It only says "Natural Born Citizen". As long as Obama's mother didn't repudiate her citizenship before giving birth, he was born a US citizen. It doesn't matter if he was born on Mars. Only an ignorant teabagger wouldn't know that.
Where e was born is a moot point. His religion doesn't matter. There is nothing in the constitution that says you must be of a certain religion to hold high office. Once again. Either you are stupid or a troll shit-stirrer to bring that up.

As I said earlier. Get out of your apartment and go meet some people. They aren't going to come to you. The only ones that will do that are, as you have found out, scammers.

Use the search feature. This so called 'debate' has been covered ad nauseum in P&R all ready.
Look it up, read and learn.

Getting back to your earlier question about the vehicles, Hill, the 60 Minutes piece had an Army animation/re-creation that showed them using a crew cab, shortbed pickup with a mounted gun for the initial runs to bring out the wounded.

As for why the driver got the Navy Cross, my guess would be that Meyer was the doing the shooting, and kept shooting after being wounded.

In a better world, this might be the part of the thread where the really smart folks start comparing Meyer's statement that, "he didn't think he was going to die, he knew he was," with Musashi's admonition to enter every battle expecting to die.

Oh, well.  We now return you to the regularly scheduled troll roll, already in progress.

They read the constitution in congress and apparently it didnt qualify since yell in congress. Here is the passage I suggest you read it yourself.

Cornell Law states of §1401. Nationals and citizens: The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth: (a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof; (b) a person born in the United States to a member of an Indian, Eskimo, Aleutian, or other aboriginal tribe: Provided, That the granting of citizenship under this subsection shall not in any manner impair or otherwise affect the right of such person to tribal or other property; (c) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person; (d) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the United States; (e) a person born in an outlying possession of the United States of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year at any time prior to the birth of such person; (f) a person of unknown parentage found in the United States while under the age of five years, until shown, prior to his attaining the age of twenty-one years, not to have been born in the United States; (g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or periods of employment with the United States Government or with an international organization as that term is defined in section 288 of title 22 by such citizen parent, or any periods during which such citizen parent is physically present abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States Government or an international organization as defined in section 288 of title 22, may be included in order to satisfy the physical-presence requirement of this paragraph. This proviso shall be applicable to persons born on or after December 24, 1952, to the same extent as if it had become effective in its present form on that date; and (h) a person born before noon (Eastern Standard Time) May 24, 1934, outside the limits and jurisdiction of the United States of an alien father and a mother who is a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, had resided in the United States.
