Sgt.Meyer,the first living Marine to be so honored for service in the Afghanistan or Iraqi conflict,received the Medal of Honor today at the White House. I have nothing to add save to mention how moved I am by the telling of this man's bravery and unflinching courage. 21 years old when he performed his heroic deed.....God bless him and all of our other men and woman in uniform.

Quite an example of service, above and beyond the call of duty. In defiance of orders, he went into the shooting 5 times to bring out the wounded, and to bring back the bodies of his dead brethren.

Whoever it was reading the citation could have used another couple run-throughs. I don't recall the President using the word "corpsmen." 18 minutes. Quite a story. Some people might call what he did a mutiny, but he pulled it off, so they hung our nation's highest honor around his neck. He looks older than 23.

I do not mind admitting that I was tearing up as the President described this young mans actions.This was a Marine who took the maxim of leaving no man behind as an absolute....God bless him.
