winspiritsbaby -> heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 1:35:27 PM)

Ok, so I went back a couple of pages on the search and now I'm even more confused![sm=sigh.gif]
What is the difference between heteroflexible and bisexual?

ProlificNeeds -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 1:38:40 PM)

I use the term 'heteroflexible' loosely to mean I don't mind close intimate interactions with a same sex individual, but it doesn't mean you're really full on open to having same sex pairings.
I consider myself a bit heteroflexible, I have in the past engaged in mild intimacies with females, usually for the sake of ultimately tormenting or pleasing a male. It's less about attraction to a female and more about being flexible in actions in order to please a partner. (I don't know if there's an official definition of the term, this is just how I've sort of viewed the use of the term.)

tolovetolaugh -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 1:43:41 PM)

Heteroflexible sounds like a barsexual.
A word made up to explain women who kiss other women for attention.

ricken -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 1:44:52 PM)

Who was it that said it best? A six pack of beer....
Or... it ain't gay if it's in threeway.

But really, I think of someone thats bi as actually being a bit more comfortable seeking out a same sex relationship. Someone that would be hetroflexible would engage in a sex act because it's there, in the moment. This might someone in a three way doing same sex acts, but that same person wouldn't seek out a same sex partner.

Thats what I think of it as.

I thought the term for that was 'lipstick lesbian'.

Heteroflexible is a great word. I havent heard that before, but it's wonderful and I'm going to use it to describe so many people...

mushroomchicken -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 1:51:34 PM)

I identify as homoflexible because, to me, bisexual means you have an equal attraction to both sexes. I am strongly attracted to women and would only be with a man in a few specific instances. I know this doesnt answer your question exactly, but I hope it helps understand a point of view.

The trouble is that debates about such terms tend to polarise, wsb. People cluster around either the position of 'this is what the term means and no other definition is acceptable', or 'labels schmabels - they just get in the way'.

I've always vaguely thought of 'heteroflexible' as, basically, hetero with a hint of bi. But I've never used the term because 'bisexual' has always worked well enough for me. Or, at least, it used to until I realised that for lots of people 'bisexual' conjures up an imagine of someone who's equally happy forming the same level of intimacy with both sexes. I don't know what term such people would use for people like myself, who have the occasional bi-fantasy but never go searching for men and couldn't imagine a partnership with one.

I thought a lipstick lesbian was a very feminine woman, usually a woman who 'passes' in the day to day world.

Maybe we should change the terms:

Homosexual, Flexisexual, Hetrosexual

SailingBum -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 2:01:07 PM)

Ponders hetroflex maybe it's a guy with a dick shoved up his ass...whilst carpet munching a girl.... This shit is wayyy to complicated for me

I know exactly what you mean... people assume if I say I'm bi that I'm looking for a relationship with a guy, which I really can't picture myself in, or even more commonly that I will stick my dick in anything that comes along, man woman or vegetable. The labels are a fucking problem.

Allow me to simply!

Happy!!!!

Thats definition enough for my sexual preferences.

winspiritsbaby -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 2:06:54 PM)

Thank you all for your responses.
I do know as with most 'labels' that the definitions will vary, however I'm just trying to find out if there is any common points. After explaining myself, I was told that I pretty much fit 'heteroflexible' so I'm trying to determine if that is an accurate description or not. I suppose it's not that big of a deal as long as Win and I know, but I have this major issue with curiosity. [:D]

hangemhigh1953 -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 3:18:14 PM)

I call myself heteroflexible, basically I am not attracted to men at all but I could still enjoy having a sexual encounter with one.

ghita -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 4:00:41 PM)

The last time someone asked me what my sexual orientation was I said "yes".

Of course Ive also answered "yes" when asked if I was male or female (hey, in some of the crowds I frequent, it can be hard to tell).

I love keeping people guessing.

Andryanna -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 4:54:23 PM)

I tend to dislike the term in general.

To me it's just another label that was created by someone who experimented with the same sex and didn't want to be associated with others who enjoy being with the opposite sex in whatever capcity they choose.

I was once told I wasn't bisexual but bi-curious because I hadn't had sex with a woman as of yet. I thought that was a total peice of bullshit. I find women attractive just as I find men attractive, I just never had the opportunity to be with one.

I don't want a relationship with another woman however, I prefer to have one with a man. If I had the opportunity to have a relationship with a couple, I would be happy with that as well.
I don't think that makes me any less bisexual, only that I have certain preferences.

Winterapple -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 4:55:38 PM)

Heteroflexible sounds a little like barsexual to me to.
My general interpretation is never had a same
sex encounter but under the most perfect and
unique circumstances I might consider it.
Like Angelina Jolie shows up or it's his birthday which is also on Christmas and Angelina has agreed to be the third person..
I think a bisexual is someone who can be in love with and enter into partnerships with either sex.
I don't think rare same sex encounters or fantasies make a person bisexual.

Epytropos -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 5:01:53 PM)

I think the last time someone asked them I said "meh." It sums up my attitude about the whole issue quite succinctly.

LadyPact -> RE: heteroflexible vs bisexual (9/19/2011 5:25:11 PM)

I use the terms in the following ways:

Bisexual - Someone who, of their own accord, willingly is interested in sexual activities with the same gender.

Heteroflexible - Someone who, under another person's direction, will engage in sexual activities with someone of the same gender.

The latter is a term that is very appropriate for those who are owned by someone else.  They may engage in sexual activities with someone of the same gender because they are obeying their owner, but that is the only reason they would do so.  They do not seek out these activities on their own or have no desire to do them, but they are not on the person's hard limit list, either.  The only reason that they do it is because their owner told them to and they obey.
