On September 24, 2007, Columbia University and its School of International and Public Affairs invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak on campus as part of Columbia University's World Leaders Forum.In response to a question about Iran's treatment of women and homosexuals, he asserted that women are respected in Iran, and stated "In Iran, we don't have homosexuals, like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who's told you that we have it."

JESUS ... this is the kind of speech you give just before you convert your country into one big Airport Restroom.
  Ahmadinejad's remarks were delivered at Columbia's Larry Craig School Of Public Sexual Conduct Policy

Gays are sometimes given the choice of state funded sexual reassignment surgery or death in Iran.

There's a documentary about the practice which followed someone who had the surgery even though he did not identify as a woman. He could have chosen to be executed.

The Iranian government funds sex changes for gay people who either identify as the the opposite sex, or pretend to in order to survive. They are then forced into prostitution due to cultural issues:

If you've ever had occasion to attend a function at the Columbia University Club... it would be quite evident... They sit around this place that looks like a giant Hugh Hefner 'study' drink anything 'dry' and argue over which one of them invented the butt plug, only to be one-uped by the hamptons-accented asshole who claims "Rather, but it was I who did the VC piece".
   The College itself is for prepping these assholes of the future for attendance and fostering a good pattern of payment on alumni fees.

There are gays there-- but it would be hard to get excited over an Iranian penis.      For me anyway.

Other institutions seem to have tolerence for these sorts of fanatics unfortunately. Its funny how Ahmadinejad was invited as the opening speaker at the Durban II anti-racism and xenophobia conference in 2009. It's a good example of how warped the UN has become. BTW he was a Basij instructor teaching children to go into unarmed combat against Iraq...

Bottom line re: institutions is that Columbia's famed NYU Club is the biggest sack of old money shit this side of Yale... They probably had some peculiar notion they would do something that would 'dis' Obama... and it simply backfired on them BIG TIME... kinda like in a republican debate when you invite a Dominos Manager in full uniform to ask a debate question about job creation
