Okay i know this has been done in the past.  But i decided to bring it back up because i know it's something people enjoy speaking about and i am looking for a new one or to see what is out there:

What are your hobbies?  Extra points if you have a unique hobby that isn't one of the "norms" so to speak.

Also, if you want to tell how you fell into doing it or got started that would be great too.

I have many hobbies but lately none are maintaining my attention:
1. Writing -- i enjoy doing image poetry -- create an image from a pic or design and pour words into it.  I fell into doing this a long long time ago when i used to make up poems when i fell into pictures.  I also write like many people do lol, stories, a book one day.

2.  I am learning how to make jewelry but i just can't focus on this lately.

3.  Fitness is becoming my hobby.
4.  I should say reading also lol as its something i do all the time.

Ahh hobbies.  They make life worth living.  Too bad I have to have a stupid job.

1.  Horseback riding
2.  Dog training.
3.  Growing my own food, gardening, chickens, bees.  Hope to get a goat next year.
4.  Fitness, including working out with a personal trainer, biking, hiking, anything to keep moving.
5.  CM Forums.

Seriously though,I am a voracious reader...I will read just about anything,up to and including cereal boxes
Love to play golf...but my ability to do so is seriously compromised by my disability.

Lastly I have begun to enjoy working out, though this too comes with some serious physical pain...but I'm working around it,cause I don't like the speed of my deterioration .I can not accept getting old quicker than I should....and what we don't use we lose.....which takes us about to the masturbation

Hobbies:

Reading

Cooking ~ Yes this includes canning and dehydrating such.

Gardening ~ I planted my first ever garden that LIVED this year. Due to the weather the yields have not been great, but I have enjoyed it.

Home projects ~ This ranges from replanting things in the yard to sanding and repainting shelves. Just those little things that you find to do and keep busy with for a month or two.

Learning opportunities ~ This can be visiting Battleships, Agricultural exhibits, or community things. Those things that you see advertised and you think sound interesting. It is fun, inexpensive, and I always learn something.

I would say that these are the things that I spend my free time on.

I make jewelry, dolls, sew, write and paint. I have given up reading for pleasure due to my eyesight, but I still enjoy internet research and cracking open an enclyclopedia or dictionary.

"I have given up reading for pleasure due to my eyesight"

That sucks, but at least you know why I make some of the stupidest typos. I can't put a 19" monitor beyond 1024 or 1152, in fact I would be more comfortable at 800.

A really good optometrist can help actually, some are much better than others I have found.

Of course if you're half blind like me you can always get a fucking loud stereo and crank the tunes until they throw you in jail. I did that, it was a "blast".

"i take notes on single estate coffees and teas, and do comparative tastings. "

This has got to be the most out of league thing for me as it gets. I stopped drinking coffee about four years ago. Now for over a month I haven't had a cigarette, well a tobacco cigarette. But tea is another thing. I don't see it as commercial as coffee. I stopped coffe because for me if it's not about 70% the strength of espresso it tastes like dishwater to me. So with my about 14 oz cup in the morning and then another 14 oz cup on the way to work it made me shake a bit. Some of the things I do at work (when I work that is) are almost like microsurgery. Not really, I don't get a microscope, fucking boss doesn't want to lay out the money.

But back then I couldn't steady my hand during the beginning of the day, certain things had to wait. That was no good.

But then I hear from a tape in the old days, now on the net of course that certain people would say is bullshit..... that there are these people who live really long, and still fuck, go out and chop wood and plow the fields when they are 116 years old and shit. The guy who met them said they drank tea with rock salt and butter.

I have done this. Now understand that I do not have a sweet tooth, I don't use sugar and I don't need a substitute because I don't want sweet shit. I know this can be hard for people to fathom but that's how it is.

For me to drink that tea with the unrefined seasalt and a couple of pats of butter melted in it was pretty OK. You have to keep stirring it because the butter keeps coming to the top. But the flavor is quite interesting and unique.

Most people won't like it but fukum. No, actually don't fukum, let them fuck themselves.
