Real0ne -> Tired of oppression? Bet you wish you lived in America. (9/23/2011 6:41:07 PM)

"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. "

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

Welcome to the land of milk and honey!

This land is our land, this land is Our land . . . . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWeF6lwg4aY

that made me feel so cozy!  Didnt it make you feel cozy?

Of course it did!

Then there is that DOUBLE dose of reality!

Welcome to my nightmare,
I think you're gonna like it,
I think you're gonna feel you belong.
A nocturnal vacation, unnecessary sedation,
you want to feel at home 'cause you belong.
Welcome to my nightmare whoa, ho, ho, ho...

Welcome to my breakdown.
I hope I didn't scare you.
That's just the way we are when we come down.
We sweat and laugh and scream here.
'Cause life is just a dream here.
You know inside you feel right at home, here.
Yeah, Welcome to my nightmare yeah, hey, hey, hey...

Welcome to my nightmare!
I think you're gonna like it!
I think you're gonna feel you belong!
We sweat and laugh and scream here!
'Cause life is just a dream here!
You know inside you feel right at home, here!

Welcome to my nightmare hoo, hoo, woo, hoo...
Welcome to my breakdown...

Yeah!

Normally I am all about rights but after that incident you just witnessed on you tube it is clear we need more and better equipped police to take out these dangerous high profile criminals.  Fortunately they got the situation under control with no police fatalities.

Aneirin -> RE: Tired of oppression? Bet you wish you lived in America. (9/23/2011 7:02:47 PM)

There are people in every country who believe their country sucks from time to time, ( me) but hey, it is somewhere to live and be sort of comfortable in, as what is the option, but to become and emigrant and move elsewhere to where the grass is greener.

But much of what we experience is based upon state of mind, think everyone is out to rip you off and that is what will happen, but feel the bad apples are a minority and you can be wise, the way I am developing to change my state of mind, is to ignore the tv news and just get on with my life in my locale and experience life as it is presented to me on a day to day basis, I guess much like what people did in the past, before media came to make our lives..... different.

Could it even be the general mood that is being experienced is a product of media entertainment and those that converse about what they watched on tv last night.

The Cryptic nature of your posts are the very definition of 'oppression'
I only have two questions.... was there an ACTUAL REAL EVENT THAT CONCERNS YOU?

And did it happen in Wisconsin?

Alice Cooper is a waste of recording medium BTW

It's bullshit.... they it's a fucking set-up they have 20 of em a day. Listen, I have been going to DC on a regular basis to visit a brother who has protected all the presidents from ford to dubyah. And MANY times i have seen this shit play out... They taunt the park rangers, postal cops, unformed secret service (DON'T ... just trust me on that one), Smithsonian Park Rangers, Justice Dept Cops, DC Cops... Take your fucking pick there is one kind or another every 100 feet or so EVERYWHERE... and the vast majority were hired by Tom Ridge and post Ridge crew, with almost a hiring freeze (cept on the private hires) since just before Obama came in.
What do all these guys pretty much have in common? Right wing, law and order "don't fuck with us, this is our turf" mentality And a few months back when the kids and I were last there for a weekend, I was impressed by the amount of tea party rhetoric coming out of them. And ever since at least the reagan years, I can always remember a the occasional youthful snot-nose going up against em with one set-up or another.
Those people clearly didn't appear to be strangers, and they definitely look like they were there with a purpose. At the beginning of the audio, it's the kid saying the shit about jefferson and not being allowed to dance.
So I guess what I think the mood should be is SO FUCKING WHAT? I've also seen these same guys help homeless people out by letting them sleep places they probably shouldn't. And run clean across Independence to stop traffic when an old lady wanders out into traffic when all the Govt offices are letting out (which makes chariot racing in rome look mild).

So yeah, so fucking what?

Because I believe the US was such a country people moved to to seek a better life, yet a couple of centuries further on, just listen to them moan about what they've become, as I believe is always the case once the 'honeymoon' period of wonder ceases.

But those that have the daring to leave their country of origin and seek a better life elsewhere, the immigrant, have to be admired for their tenacity, because one thing is for sure, not everyone can do it.

Perhaps it is those that can move elsewhere are the true survivors of our species, because they evolve whereas others, those that can't do what the immigrants do, stagnate and there end up moaning about everything, including immigrants as if they were the sole reason everything in their perception has turned to shit.

what gives them the authority to arrest kids in a public place who are not injuring anyone in any way?

After all these kids are TAXPAYERS and therefore STOCKHOLDERS in the US INC.

SS, I generally agree with almost everything you say.  However, I saw this video several weeks ago and was sickened by it.  Don't the rangers and police have anything better to do than to harass and arrest people who are doing something that is hurting absolutely nobody?

defiantbadgirl -> RE: Tired of oppression? Bet you wish you lived in America. (9/23/2011 9:29:30 PM)

The United States sucks. A once great country ruined by corporate greed and there's no single-payer health care.

Right wing fucks that pass things like the Patriot Act... were you anywhere even near the line where they handed out brains?
Sorry reality is finally catching up with you.
Welcome to post 911 america

Hey ... I don't like it myself. But I also think to myself . Serves everybody right  for being DICKS back in the fall of  2001 when some people were screaming on the internet and even in public demonstrations (I was involved in both despite great risk to a really good job with a company totally in the tank for dubyah)... Screaming for one thing... Don't pass the patriot act.
Alas ... Sailed ship.
And those I used to think of as right wing kooks back before 01? They have their own movement to fuck with everything.
That however is a ship that can get capsized if people smarten up and start really looking beyond the rhetoric.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Tired of oppression? Bet you wish you lived in America. (9/23/2011 11:15:55 PM)

You have to be really jaded not to be outraged by that video.
It was stupid of the park service to pass such a rule. It was stupid of the police to so mindlessly provoke such a meaningless confrontation. I don't know if it was because of the patriot act, but the police in the last 15 years are getting progressively more brutal. Hardly a month goes by in Portland where you don't hear about some cop killing wounding or just terrorizing one of the people they are supposed to protect. Lucky for the cops that most of their victims are homeless or "brown", so on one get too outraged about it. Suicide by cop is a more reliable way to kill yourself than hanging or pills.
Just because people didn't scream wihen the PA was passed doesn't mean we should watch this stuff in silence.

Rofl.

I will be the first to admit the US has issues but greed was there from the start (slavery and lack of labor laws jumpstarted the American economy in the 19th c) and your logic about being ruined by lack OS something that was never there in the first place is unsound.

I agree.
The People have the right of free assembly!
Now the park police and the EPA "cops" are carrying guns!
Why, are (they) part of Homeland Security too!

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me.

I roamed and I rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
While all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me.

When the sun came shining, and I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
A voice was chanting, As the fog was lifting,
This land was made for you and me.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.
You want the actual song if you ain't thought anything yet ? I can arrainge that.

T^T
